Flint 2 GL-MT6000 Router PPPoE + VLAN Problem

Hi, I have done various tests with the flint 2 router across many firmwares including flashing to immortalwrt/openwrt and tested all gl i net firmwares for the flint 2 and have discovered a major issue.

The issue is either JUST PPPoE or its both PPPoE + VLAN or (unlikely but just VLAN) however fron my findings I have discovered its mainly PPPoE

So the problem is there is noticable problem with how the flint 2 handles pppoe+vlan, i have found everything feels out of sync , video and audio are out of sync with eachother and its 100% noticable - anything visual e.g tiktok clips, twitch streams, youtube, netflix, instagram, laptop, pc, iphone, ps5 gaming anything at all thats visual, ive found video is slightly sped up almost like its playing faster 1.2x rather than 1.0x / it feels like audio at times also speeds up slows down and both audio and video struggle to stay in sync and constantly the video is slightly speeding up to try stay in sync, ive noticed even audio sounds abit off because it also struggles to stay in sync or something!

Ive tried absolutely everything to fix it and have tested wifi/wired different cables even different flint 2 routers ipv4/6, mtu, sqm, hardware acceleration etc when i mean everything i mean everything, there are some things which ‘help’ but it does not tackle the core/route of the problem which is the way the flint 2 handles pppoe+vlan, the issue of audio/video being out of sync and anything visual sped up, audio at times speeding up is a big issue and its not a here and there thing its 24/7 and i have come to the conclusion others who own flint 2 and use it with pppoe + vlan have noticed this but they think its sqm or its normal or they think its because the routers so fast but im here to say this is not the issue at all, the issue is entirely pppoe + vlan.

I have also tested using my vodafone power hub wifi 6 isp provided router and its immaculate there is nothing thats out of sync its perfectly in sync no issues at all, even over mobile data there are no issues at all ofcourse at times but thats normal because its 5g but this should NOT happen for the flint 2 which is arguably the best or 1 of the best arm routers around!

Btw im on city fibre 1 gig download/upload and my Isp is Vodafone PPPoe + vlan 811 required.

Just to also mention it also feels like things are abit blurry which i have found is because packets arent processed correctly its linked to the pppoe + vlan problem ive discussed.

p.s everything else is flawless perfect no issues at all, EXCEPT for this which is basically a make or break in my opinion how on earth am i meant to game enjoy videos tiktok anything really when audio video is out of sync, visually everythings sped up audios weird packets not processing correctly - this happens constantly 24/7.

Please if possible can gl i net fix this massive problem and if others have also noticed this or perhaps found a reason why this is, what the issue/cause is and a fix please let me know, Thank you!

Kind Regards

This sounds more like an issue with the end device or maybe Wi-Fi - or LAN and MTU. Audio and video streams on most websites are not two different files. They are multiplexed inside one file, so it's technically impossible that this issue happens due to transfer issues. There is only 1 stream that will be downloaded, not audio + video in different streams. (Some websites use HLS - but you said that any website is problematic)

My advice:

  1. Please reset the router to the most up-to-date official firmware.
  2. Connect to your internet
  3. Don't touch any other settings, and test with your devices if the issue persists.
  4. Post logs + Speedtest (using speed.cloudflare.com) here

Hi, thank you for replying

I have tested absolutely everything, there are no issues no problems spikes speed tests etc everythings flawless and i have even tried foolproof methods of just installing the latest firmware (ive tried almost all actually) the issue is still there and its over wifi and wired makes no difference at all (ethernet is abit less bad though but the issue still there)

when you say the issue could be LAN what do you mean exactly? could it be something with br-lan, eth0, eth1, eth1.911 interfaces in luci by any chance or no?

i feel like ive become a half expert with the flint 2 after all my testing im really in need of help for this plz
