Flint 2 (GL-MT6000) showing incorrect incoming network traffic

Hi all,

I'm using a Flint 2 (GL-MT6000) running v6.2, with telegraf installed to monitor network traffic which is exported to influxdb and grafana running on a dedicated VM.

Monitoring eth1 (the interface with the public IP address from the modem) is only showing 1/5 of the incoming network traffic, but outgoing traffic on the same interface is correct.

Network acceleration is switched off.

I tested this by downloading 5 Linux Mint ISOs totalling 14.3G concurrently on a VM, and looking at the differences between Flint 2 incoming traffic, and VM's incoming traffic.

On the Flint 2, bytes_recv went from 92.63G to 95.58G.

The same thing happened before I upgraded from v5.8 (no settings kept during upgrade).

Has anyone else noticed similar behaviour?

I haven't set anything up in LuCI, as I understand that will rename my network interfaces and I'm not sure I want to go down that path as I would have to do it after every upgrade (correct me if I'm wrong here).

Thanks

May I know if the traffic statistics in the GL is right? The SUM of All clients are supposed to be equal to the eth1 traffic.

These statistics traffic related feature/software/plugins only for reference, they are not very accuracy, even disable the network acceleration.

Network Acceleration is disabled, so that shouldn't be an issue.

But it's like the interface isn't recording all the traffic that's going through it, which is what I would expect to see if some sort of acceleration were being used.

And this is only for incoming traffic. Outgoing is showing the right numbers, using the same query.

Thanks

Please try to use 'ifconfig' to compare to see if the traffic of the interface 'wan' is right

Please show us the comparison in the test result with some screenshot.

I have started some heavy downloading on a VM connected to the internet via the Flint 2. Here are the results after 15 minutes:

12:45
VM (Talyn): RX bytes 45833006939 (45.8 GB)
Flint2 (Nadesico): RX bytes:140897652388 (131.2 GiB)

13:00
VM (Talyn): RX bytes 93373802751 (93.3 GB)
Flint2 (Nadesico): RX bytes:147888285044 (137.7 GiB)

VM (Talyn) difference: 47.5
Flint2 (Nadesico) difference: 6.5

Graphs showing the difference in reported traffic:

May I know if is the interface WAN of the Flint2?

Yes, that's eth1 on the Flint2 - Ethernet 1 in the Admin Panel, in WAN mode. eth1 is the interface with the public IP address assigned by my ISP.

Thanks

Thanks Spadge.
Confirmed this issue, will submit to R&D, due to this issue probably related to the hardware, perhaps will not be fast.
