Flint 2: Is it safe to stay on 4.8.3?

I just would like to know if it is save to stay on the 4.8.3 firmware?
The router works like it should and i don't need all these new "features".

Hi

If the features of the current firmware already meet your needs, then there should be no problem in staying on firmware version v4.8.3.

Thanks @will.qiu
I'll stay with 4.8.3 then.

Will, surely the newer versions of OP24 (24.10.7) which patch CVE’s would be safer to user than 4.8.3….. which is an much earlier version of 24.10.

For known CVEs that affect the platform, we backport the relevant security fixes to the stock OP21 firmware. Therefore, there should be no significant difference in security between the two from that perspective.

Fair enough for OP21, but I was referring to OP24 (4.8.3).

It’s possible that I previously misunderstood your question and thought you were comparing the security between the OP21 and OP24 versions.

If you are instead asking about the security differences between v4.8.3-op24 and v4.8.3, the answer is similar: we review whether v4.8.3-op24 is affected by relevant CVEs, and if it is, we backport the necessary fixes.

We also have plans to release v4.9.x-op25 in the future.
