Flint 3 GL-BE9300 OpenWRT support effort started

Looks like the Flint 3 is working its way toward OpenWRT support along with other Qualcomm IPQ5332 based routers. Below is a post on the OpenWRT forum showing progress made and hurdles yet to be overcome. It would be great to see GL.iNet lend support to the effort!

@Bruce any way that GL.iNET can assist in the effort to run vanilla OpenWRT on Flint 3.

Specifically the needs are:

  • RTL8372N switch driver (that's the current bottleneck for the 2.5G LAN-side link)
  • GL board DTS — those are GL-specific, layered on top of wlan-ap rather than in the public TIP tree.

You can post on the GIT link directly. Or if you post here, I can share on GIT. Thank you!

Hi

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We have confirmed with Realtek that, since the RTL8372N driver has not been open-sourced, we are unfortunately unable to provide the corresponding documentation or source code. However, we are actively encouraging them to move this forward.

Regarding the GL Board DTS, we believe it may be of limited use if the switch driver itself cannot be provided. That said, if you still need it, please let us know.

Please also feel free to let us know if there is any other assistance we can provide.

Please provide the GL Board DTS anyway. Thank you!

We will try to contact the author directly on the OpenWrt forum to see whether there is any assistance we can provide.

In any case, thank you for bringing this to our attention.

You guys are Rock Stars. Contact is “perceival” on GIT or OpenWRT forum
