Flint 3 - no secondary wifi after fw update

Dears,

my Flint 3 is configured with two wifi networks; the main one, spreaded over 2,4, 5 and 6 GHz, and a secondary one used by IoT devices, 2,4G only (Amazon Echoes, zigbee controller and so on).

These wifis have been assigned to different VLANs, if this might be relevant to troubleshoot.

Yesterday I accessed the Flint 3 to forward a couple of ports and noticed a FW update was available; I updated, but after that I can’t see the secondary wifi anymore.

Obviously from the admin panel I see the secondary wifi is active; tried to turn it off and then reactivate, tried to reboot… nothing worked for me. Tried also to switch offf & on the SSID visibility, but without results.

Is this a known bug? It seems the update broke my wlan interface. Can you help me troubleshooting?

Btw: I have my configuration saved (apart from WLANs, there are three VLAN configured by means of LuCI scripts) and a last chance would be to revert my FW release and upload my config, but before doing anything, I’d like to hear suggestions from you experts (I’m not a network guru, unfortunately).

Update. I noticed after a reset that in the main interface only two tabs are available per each wi-fi frequency: the main wifi and the guest.

Before the update, I had three WiFi tabs per frequency and -guess what- the wi-fi which Is currently not visibie even though configured and active Is exactly the third One.

I don’t know why gl inet capped to a maximum of two wi-fis this router, it seems a downgrade from a previously existing feature.

Too bad I had struggled months ago to configure my VLANs and now everything’s gone (and I’m not Expert enough to understand why).

Oh, btw: i opened a ticket to gl inet support posting logs and configuration, buy they replied they will take a look after the spring festival holiday. So, I think they will support my re-config in a couple of weeks…

Hi there,

Same thing happened to me after upgrading from 4.8.3 to 4.8.4. Main WiFi works as expected but IoT network configured using this guide

will not broadcast anymore. The VLANs still work and otherwise everything is okay.

Also, the entries in /etc/config/wireless for this secondary wifi are still there, so I suppose that’s not the problem. Please keep us posted if staff can help you out!
