Flint 3 - Unacceptable Stability Issues, Where is the Fix?

will monitor my wifi speed after the reboot and report in a new thread. cheers

Just a a brief of my experience so far: in the past month or so initially it was just the 2.4GHz was extremely slow (the download dropped to under 10mbps) which made my google nest hub video quality dropped drastically but in the past few weeks my 5GHz became extremely unstable (as if it only gets a burst of speed then it will almost become none), my iphone will revert back to my mobile plan connection automatically but my laptop used for work became unworkable due to unstable internet. (I am on a 500/50 ISP plan)

Adding my two cents: I finally made the switch from Flint3 to Flint 2, and I couldn't be happier!

Currently having every one of these issues on my new Flint 3… Highly considering switching to a Flint 2.

Would you be willing to give us a chance to troubleshoot the issue you’re experiencing?

Same with me - I replaced my Flint2 with Flint3 and wifi issues are endless. I sometimes stand 6m away from the router direct line of sight and a page randomly won’t load (packet loss??) or video content starts long buffering (1Gb fibre) but when I run tests it all seems fine. No such issues with Flint2 whatsoever. The difficulty is that it is very intermittent and I simply cannot recreate the problem. I’ve tried turning hardware acceleration off with no much difference.
At this point Flint3 seems a real downgrade from Flint2.

I had to switch back to Flint 2 because of these issues. Connections would constantly stall, requiring browser refresh or router reboot. We have a 2gbit symmetric connection and without network acceleration the Flint 3 can't handle anywhere near that. With network acceleration it can handle the speed but then half the features of the router are disabled or don't work. Wholly a disappointment.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

As Bruce mentioned earlier, if you need to support speeds above 1 Gbps, we recommend enabling hardware offloading on the Flint 3. In this case, some features that rely on CPU processing may not function properly.

If you find that the Flint 3 does not meet your requirements, please contact cs@gl-inet.com for further assistance.

When hardware offloading / network acceleration is enabled, the router does not function properly at all. Connections stall constantly and the Internet becomes basically unusable. Right now I’m using my Flint 3 in AP mode as a fill-in and I’ve put the Flint 2 back as the router. As an AP the Flint 3 works great. If there is a firmware update that fixes the Flint 3 issues then I can consider using it as the edge device again.

Thank you for the clarification.

If you’re willing to give us a chance to investigate the issue, please feel free to send a detailed network topology and a list of the problems you’re encountering to support@gl-inet.com. Our technical team will be able to provide further assistance.

We will also continue improving the firmware for the Flint 3 to ensure more stable performance across different scenarios.

I assume your issue is wireless vs wired? To Will’s point, you’ll need to make sure hardware acceleration is enabled because speeds will be poor with it disabled. This is the same with every router where you are looking for speeds in excess of 500Mbps. Second, have you performed a channel scan to make sure you aren’t in conflict with other wireless channels? Last, please test reducing the TX power from max to high or medium to see if that makes a difference.
