Flint 3... when?

Any news about a new Flint 3 with Wi-Fi 7 and all of its features?

What do you think could be its release date?

Easy! Let me look into my crystal ball for a moment. :crystal_ball:

Oh, bad signal - sorry. :no_entry_sign:

lmao If your ball had Wi-Fi 7 it could have received the information despite network congestion

10G ports

Hopefully not. 10 Gbit ports use way to much power.

It might be based on the Filogic 860 SoC

Dang. I don't even have my Flint 2 in its semi-permanent place yet.

but look how pretty it could be:

Lol that's a good one :sweat_smile::rofl::sweat_smile:

I like that it doesn't have any holes on the top, unlike the Flint 2. But I think the USB port on the side is a misstep, since people have been asking for that to be on the back of the router since the original Flint was released.

The power cable that come with the Flint 2 was way too short, so hopefully the Flint 3's is longer or it's using USB-C.

I like its design. Very clean router.

Three things

  1. Powered through USB-C port
  2. Support USB-C for external drive
  3. Change that side port to USB-C for phone modem

no, it's not.
and qualcomm ipq53xx

and it looks like it will come with kernel 5.4.213

USB 3.x ports must be placed far away from the antennas.

I'm using this adaptor and the Flash Drive can be positioned fantastically well.

that is sad. no vanilla openwrt means we will rely on the closed source patches which may only come if qualcomm wants to

knowing how qualcomm are responsible for the lack of long term support for so many android phones and how much waste that causes i am not happy about this decision

not until they release the blobs for open source development, this won't be a good device. next gen Flint after this might be the better choice

I would wait a year before even thinking of buying a Flint 3, because you'll be dealing with very buggy firmwares for the first year. Flint 2 has been out for two years and it still has bugs.

Furthermore, most people won't need Wifi 7 for at least 5 years. Wifi 5 came out over a decade ago and many business and people still use AC Wifi 5 routers.
