I had some issues with my virgin hub, it's the latest one. So I bought a flint 3e off Amazon. Put virgin router in modem mode, set up flint with same SSID and password as old virgin router. Everything connected. Result. However my work Windows laptop and Xbox cannot get internet connectivity. They can connect to the router though. I've tried removing the network from the devices and adding it back and this also does not work. I've tried a host of settings changes but nothing seems to work. I'm currently connecting to my plug in repeater on both devices which does allow a path to the internet. This plug in device is just a WiFi repeater a cheap TP link device. It's really driving me mad not knowing how to resolve this. Any help would be so appreciated. I've thought about getting rid of my Xbox because of this! The Xbox was having issues with internet connectivity on the old virgin router which is why I decided to buy a new router. Now my work laptop has the same issue I have no idea what to do. Any help honestly would make my dreams come true!
Hi
Sorry for the late reply—we’ve just returned from the Chinese New Year holiday.
To confirm, the issue you’re experiencing is:
- Other devices connected to the Flint 3e can access the internet normally
- However, your work Windows laptop and Xbox, when connected via Wi-Fi, can only access the router interface but not the internet
- After adding a TP-Link Wi-Fi repeater, both the work laptop and Xbox are now able to access the internet normally
Is our understanding correct?
Could you please check/provide the following:
- What is the current firmware version of your Flint 3e? You can find it in GL Admin Panel → System → Upgrade
- Please try disabling Network Acceleration under GL Admin Panel → Network → Network Acceleration and see if it helps
- Are the work Windows laptop and Xbox connected to 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi?
- Please connect the work Windows laptop and Xbox directly to the Flint 3e, then export the device logs and send them to us via private message for analysis
- On the work Windows laptop, open a Command Prompt (CMD) and run the following commands:
nslookup dns.google
tracert 8.8.8.8
How to export logs:
How to send private messages:
-
Virgin Media Hub (latest model) in modem mode
-
GL.iNet Flint 3E as your main router
-
Xbox + work Windows laptop connect to WiFi but no internet
-
A TP-Link WiFi Repeater does give them internet
That tells us something important:
