Flint 4 - Need the ability to set any 1Gbe port as WAN port

4.9.1 firmware on the Flint 4 looks great, I come from 4.8.3 on the Flint 2 where I made both 2.5Gbe ports as LAN and set the 1Gbe port as WAN port using luci.

However this isn’t compatible with Multi-WAN function in either the Flint 2 or Flint 4 because they track the ports which have been changed.

I would like to be able to use the 1Gbe ports as WAN ports without touching luci, the new connection am I thinking of getting doesn’t exceed this speed and I would like to keep my 2.5Gbe ports for fast devices,

Please add the ability to set any of the 1Gbe ports as WAN ports in the official GL-iNet firmware.

Are the other 2.5Gbe LAN ports changeable to WAN or is that not possible on the Flint 4?

Only the 1st 2.5Gbe port can be set to WAN. If you want to set another 2.5Gbe port to wan you need to follow something like GL-MT6000 (Flint2) How change LAN2 - LAN5 port to WAN - #15 by cyph

Thank you. That's such a shame as I was really hopeful that they might introduce easier and much more flexible ethernet ports management and interchangeability together with the new VLAN capabilities.

Thank you for the suggestion and for explaining your use case.

We understand that being able to assign any 1GbE port as a WAN port would provide more flexibility and we have recorded this request and submitted it to the relevant team for further evaluation.
