Flint2 USB drive problem

Flint 2 is not able to recognize USB drive (Kingston DataTraveler Exodia 64GB USB 3.2 Flash Drive DTX/64GB) .

I asked Chatgpt, it says it is a common problem with Flint 2 because it does not provide enough power. Is it true?

The same drive worked with TP-Link Archer C7.

ok, I took the usb drive out, plugged into a windows machine, deleted the partitions on the drive, reformat with ntfs, plugged it back into flint 2, and it worked this time.

Probably some bug with openwrt not able to handle multi partitioned usb drives.

I spoke too soon.

After 24 hours, the same error surfaced again.

Someone from Openwrt suggested a power issue.

I am going to monitor how long it will take for the error to show up.

I really hope this is not a HW issue.

Hi

Thank you for your report.

Have you tried using the official GL.iNet firmware, such as the stable v4.8.4 release or the recently released v4.9.0 beta? Do you experience the same issue on those versions?

Additionally, please make sure you are using the power adapter that came with the Flint 2, or another one that meets the 12V/4A requirement.
If you have a USB hub with an external power supply, you can also use it to check whether the issue is related to power.

I removed and plugged it back in the USB port, it has been 8 hours.

Reformatted it in openwrt, mounted it, everything looks good so far:

After 20 hours, no issues have appeared. My suspicion is that the root cause lies in the USB drive having been partitioned by OpenWrt specifically for extroot in the first place.

Thank you for the update.
Glad to hear that the issue has been identified and resolved.
