Galaxy Phone Hotspot Disconnect

I’m having an issue with my GL-X1200 disconnecting from or not being able to connect to my phones 5G hotspot… I’m using the latest beta firmware 3.203… The hot spots I’m having issues with are both on Samsung Galaxy phones (Note 20 & 9) using Tmobile… Have tried to change the hotspot band on the phones but it appears that you can’t? Other devices have no issues connecting to the phone 5G hotspot… Appreciate any suggestions!

Is there any settings like compatibilty in your phone’s hotspot settings?

Are you able to connect to the Galaxy 5G hotspot from a PC, tablet, computer or even from 1 Galaxy phone to the other Galaxy phone?

No problems connecting the Galaxy Note20 5G to my laptop… It connects and stays connected… The disconnect issues are only occurring between the phone and the GL-X1200 .

The only change that I can make is the band (5Ghz or 2.4Ghz)… The issue appears to be related to distance… When the phone is within 3’ of the GL-X1200 I stay connected… As soon as I move the phone away it disconnects from the router… I’ve tried both max power and high power on the GL-x1200 and the issue remains… I have no issues connecting other devices to the phones hotspot.

Can you reboot, then post the System Log (logread in SSH) and Kernel Log (dmesg in SSH) after you get disconnects?

Here’s the sys log:

The logs show wifi disconnect on 5GHz band. As a test, can you also try connecting to hotspot on 2.4GHz band to see if it has the same problem?

To eliminate other variables, turn off the 5GHz band and LTE on the router if they are on. Also, update to latest firmware if not already done so.

Followed your recommendations and I still get disconnects on the 2.4 band… The GL-X1200 is no more than 20’ from my PC and the signal strength is only one bar?

I noticed the following line in both your logs, associated with disconnects:

wlan-sta: Limiting TX power to 0 (-128 - 0) dBm as advertised by 5a:d5:0a:f6:37:c6

5a:d5:0a:f6:37:c6 is the MAC of your smartphone hotspot. If it means to reduce the GL-X1200’s transmit power (?), then it may explain why your phone has to be close to the router and the signal is weak between PC and the router.

Do you have home wifi that you can test connecting the GL-X1200 to, instead of your smartphone?
