Geolocation with VPN issue

Hi there!

I’m experiencing problems with watching specific content with a geoblock on it.

I’m using NordVPN on my berly3000 and f1 as well as a Dutch like Netflix called Videoland don’t work when NordVPN on, on the berly. But when I turn on NordVPN on a iPad or phone, everything works fine.

Can someone help me.

Update:

Checked dns leak website, shows all locations as Amsterdam which is good.
Block non vpn traffic + GLInet service over vpn are on.
Changed DNS Provider and DNS protocol.

This all is no solutions for my problem.

Update 2: the issue was Allow Custom DNS to Override VPN DNS.

So now the question is, how can I use a adblocker with NordVPN on. Because the custom DNS is leaking location.

Running AdGuard Home as your DNS proxy should work.

I am not completely sure if it does on the Beryl as well, but worth a try.

Yeah I will give it another try. I just went to nextdns, because my beryl went crazy with AdGuard.
Web gui keeps crashing, router reboots etc. Don’t know why.

Will keep u posted.

AdGuard should be fine if you just use it as a DNS proxy. Disable filtering and logging in AGH.

I understand what you mean, but the thing is, I like to use some blocklists, otherwise the ads wil still come trough right.

At least that what I was experiencing.

No, you will simply use your current DNS (which blocks Ads as well, right?) as the upstream DNS for AGH.

Im also a videoland user here.

Though videoland uses alot of trackers including drm ones with vague domain names.

best is to whitelist it from vpn by mac address for the device and dns tag it since adguard can also interfere.

It gets more complicated if you want to allow it for all devices, currently i only use one smart tv and that works excellent.

If your current connection does not reside from the netherlands, i don't think it will work, they use vpn blocklists even if they are dutch vpn ip.

Actually every device is working right now, with NordVPN and Videoland here in Thailand through the berly router since I changed the dns settings.

I only want to block ads now, but that is only for web pages and other stuff, Videoland doesn’t have ads with my subscription.

In that case you can do what @admon suggested.

But even if it doesn't show ads, adguard has the potential to block trackers which block the functionality on videoland.

Heres a list i know so far:

onetrust.com
bedrock.tech
cdns.gigya.com
sentry.io
nr-data.net

There might be more especially from Google, ive had a bunch whitelisted on my nextdns instance which also uses a block list of adguardhome, they also re-roll domains sometimes but this works for me for over a year.

Just test them and eliminate false positives, my network is huge so sometimes not all queries match with videolands response

So I will try and do this, but which settings you want me to turn on and which to turn off?

Because I just enabled AdGuard again, and now my geolocation is immediately broken XD

Turn of filtering and logging and add the necessary DNS upstreams.
Depending on the GL firmware it might break geolocation, there are some issues with VPN DNS over AdGuard Home
