Getting it to work first time

Don't find an answer here and the other answers I have found elsewhere do not work. New product for me so please understand my lack of knowledge. I bouught a GL-inet AX3000wifi6 router model GL-MT3000. I understood it to be something to help when traveling to help access hotel wifi which sometimes is a pain to access for streaming.

I have a blinking blue light and no access using the http ip address which I guess is the control panel. The instructions are very vague in the package provided. I find the router listed in my available networks but for some reason I cannot connect. I am assuming I need to do something in the control panel that I cannot access.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can find all docs + getting started manual here:

Please upgrade to the latest firmware for the MT3000, v4.6.3, download from GL.iNet download center, and manually upload and upgrade in the GL GUI.

First i recommend to use a paper clip or button and reset the device just to ensure it runs under factory settings, due to numerous posts about amazon it is possible you could have a used one if it was not directly sold by GL-iNet.

Just press it until the light flickers faster then remove pressure and then wait until it flickers slower or returns normal.

Then connect one cable in port wan, and one cable to your laptop or pc, you can also use wifi please check the under side label for the information you have to enter in order to connect to it over wifi.

Theoretically after the setup the blinking should return into normal light.

If there is no internet it blinks also its the same blinking as if you visit it as a brand new or reset device, but as soon this setup is entered then it stops aslong there is internet.

Possible the IP of router’s web UI was changed by previous owner.

This change was necessary if the router was used to VPN to another gl-inet router that shared (and hence conflict) the same subnet.

You can reset the router as mentioned above. Or look at the default gateway IP as reported by your network adapter.

Thank you for the suggestions and help. But I have tried several things and read all that I thought would help.
In response to the suggestions.

I did read the manual.

Upgrading process the app says it is current on upgrades and is already 4.6.3. That is if I am doing this right.

I have a reset button so no clip needed and I have tried the reset procedure suggested but the light never stops blinking. It does speed up but then it slows down and never stops blinking.

My laptop does not have a compatible port. I am traveling for the a few days and will try this on a pc when available.

And lastly this is a new MT3000. Never been used except for this time. I am trying to get it set up for the first time.

Again I thank you for your help and consideration. Anything other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Could you please describe more in detail what you are trying to do?

Do you access your device using http://192.168.8.1?
Can you ping it?

Which IP does your device got?

I have tried that several times. I get a notice that the connection has timed out. "The server at 192.168.8.1 is taking too long to respond."

Which IP does your device got?

The IP is as above 192.168.8.1.

on which device do you try to connect with?

my dad for example always forget to disable his vpn on his phone, vpn can restrict local access to some degree as part of their kill switch.

Do you think it might be something like that?
