GL-AX1800 Failsafe not working

Hello,

I have a firewall configuration issue that has locked me out of the router. I have tried to get back in using the Failsafe instructions: [OpenWrt Wiki] Failsafe mode, factory reset, and recovery mode, but it's not working. This router only has 2 buttons; The sync button, which I've read doesn't do anything, and the reset button. I've read that sometimes the router will try Failsafe mode using 192.168.8.1, instead of 1.1. Either way, I've followed the instructions in that document and tried both.

Does anyone know if there is a special procedure for this model?

Any help is appreciated.

Here you go: Repair or Reset - GL.iNet Router Docs 4

Press reset button over 8 seconds, LED quick flash, and release.

Thanks for the replies.

To be clear, I'm only trying to enter Failsafe mode to correct a firewall setting.

I'm NOT trying to reset to factory.

@bruce Would your instructions get me into failsafe mode? Would I have to be powered off, then power on with the reset button held for 8 seconds? Would I need to be connected through ethernet, with a static IP of 192.168.1.2, then I can get SSH access?

Thanks

There is no "failsafe mode" on GL devices - this might only apply to plain OpenWrt devices.
So if you locked out yourself, factory reset is the way to go.

Or trying to fix it using SSH (or GoodCloud, if connected) - if this is still possible.

I'm trying not to lose all my settings, which is what factory reset would do.

I am unable to login to the web console, and can't get in with SSH.
Is there another way?

You could try to do a network reset only - but I am not sure if this will work.

Press and hold the reset button for 4 seconds then release to repair your network.

If this does not work, you will go through the factory reset.

Only the LAN is having a problem. Is there a way to specify a particular network through SSH? There are multiple networks configured. I wonder if there is a way to point SSH to another network?

If can connect to the SSH, can do.

SSH default is only permit to login in the LAN (for security) or GoodCloud (if connected). If both not, I assume only reset to factory.
