GL-AX1800 / Flint - Unable to Connect to External PPTP VPN

Hello everyone,

I'm running into an issue with my GL-AX1800 (Flint) router when trying to connect to an external PPTP VPN. Despite following standard setup procedures and verifying my VPN credentials, I'm unable to establish a successful connection. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  1. VPN Configuration: Set up the VPN with the correct server IP, username, password, and encryption settings as provided by my VPN provider.
  2. Router Settings: Enabled PPTP passthrough in the router settings, but no success.
  3. Firewall Rules: Checked my firewall settings to ensure they’re not blocking the VPN connection.
  4. Firmware Version: Confirmed that the router is running on the latest firmware.
  5. Hotspot Test: When I connect to a mobile hotspot instead of my Flint router, the external PPTP VPN connects without issues, which leads me to believe the router might be the cause.

Is there something specific in the Flint router’s settings that could be interfering with external PPTP VPN connections? Any suggestions or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Looks like you manually install the PPTP VPN client plugin in the Flint.

If the Flint as the client, it is not supposed to be set the firewall or route configuration.

As you mentioned the PPTP in your hotspot works ok, can try to manage the Flint connect to the hotspot via repeater, and test is it working?
