GL-AX1800 Wireless WAN to Android hotspot

Hello,

in an earlier post I asked for ideas how to connect internet in a RV.

Yesterday I got my new home router MT-6000 Flint-2 which replaced the GL-AX1800 which I want to use in my RV.

When connecting my phone wired (USB tethering) to the GL-AX1800, internet is working but when on the road, I want to use my phone also outdoors, so wireless.

So I found this page where it describes how to use my mobile phone as a hotspot (wireless) using openwrt: OpenWrt: How to use wifi as WAN connection? - Unix & Linux Stack Exchange

I followed the steps, when scanning, I can connect to my hotspot but my laptop, which is connected to the lan port of the GL-AX1800, has no internet connection.

I must make a mistake somewhere but I can’t find what I’m doing wrong.

So, how can I connect my GL-AX1800 router WAN side, wireless to my mobile phone’s hotspot ?

Thank you very kindly,

Tom

You set the router as repeater and connect it to your phone via wifi, same way you connect a laptop to your phone via wifi.

Hello,

@Denisimo , thank you for your quick reply.

I’ve setup the AX-1800 router as repeater and connected it to my mobile phone hotspot.
I have changed the LAN ipaddress to 192.168.9.1.
Changed network priority.

Then I setup a VPN WG client connection to my MT-6000 (home router) and I could access my server using my mobile network.

I’ve setup a 2nd VPN WG client so I can switch between them.

Because I want to use the AX-1800 in my RV, I’ve also installed AGH and everything seems to work fine.

Thank you for your hint to use the repeater mode.

Grettings Tom
