GL-BE3600 repeater issues

My Slate 7 is picking up wifi from A nearby Starlink router. I used to do this with a Ax-1800 and worked fine until the unit dies. Replaces with a new Slate 7. It works well until traffic increases and more mobile phones are around. It seems Slate 7 is having trouble with RF traffic and at some point it drops the receiving wifi. Repeater symbol turns read, but it’s still connected to the receiving wifi. This never happened with the AX-1800 and was stable for years. Now Slate 7 drops out every time there are like more than maybe 50 mobile phones near by. Non is connected with any of the wifi networks involved.

The internet connection is on LAN1 via Ethernet in to the local network. No issues on the Ethernet side.

Slate 7 seems to have an issue with holding the connection when it gets busy.

Any ideas what can be done. Unfortunately I can’t plug in to the Starlink via Ethernet. It’s only 4 meters away but 2 walls in between.

Hi

Sorry for the delayed reply.

Based on your description, our current understanding is:

  • The Slate 7 is connected to the Starlink router via Repeater mode.
  • The Slate 7 is providing Wi-Fi access to approximately 50+ mobile phones.
  • The issue is that, in some cases, the Slate 7 loses its connection to the Starlink router.
  • When this happens, wired-to-wireless LAN communication continues to work normally.

Is our understanding correct?

If so, could you please clarify or provide the following information?

  1. Is the Slate 7 connected to the Starlink router over 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz?
  2. Which wireless band are the 50+ mobile phones using to connect to the Slate 7? 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, MLO or Mixed?
  3. When the issue occurs, could you provide a screenshot of Admin Panel → Internet → Repeater so we can better understand the connection status?
  4. After the issue occurs, does the connection to the Starlink router recover automatically, or is manual intervention required?
  5. When the issue occurs, please export the router logs and send them to us via private message so that we can investigate further.
