GL-E5800EU 6 GHz SSID disappeared after switching 6 GHz → 5 GHz → 6 GHz, AP shows ENABLED but clients cannot detect it

I am using a GL-E5800EU (Mudi 7) with a CMHK SIM card.

Client devices:

  • Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, Hong Kong version
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max, mainland China version

Before the issue, the Samsung could detect and connect to the router’s 6 GHz Wi-Fi normally. The iPhone could not detect 6 GHz and used 2.4 GHz instead.

The issue started after this sequence:

  1. The router was originally using 2.4 GHz + 6 GHz.
  2. The Samsung was connected to 6 GHz normally.
  3. I changed the high-band Wi-Fi from 6 GHz to 5 GHz through the normal GL.iNet web interface.
  4. Both phones could detect and connect to 5 GHz normally.
  5. I then changed the router from 5 GHz back to 6 GHz.
  6. From that moment, even the Samsung could no longer detect the 6 GHz SSID.

Before the issue, I did not modify the country code, driver files, LuCI wireless settings, or any low-level configuration. I only used the normal GL.iNet web interface.

Troubleshooting already completed:

  • Changed the 6 GHz SSID
  • Confirmed SSID broadcast is enabled
  • Enabled PSC
  • Tried automatic and manual channel selection
  • Tested channel 5
  • Tested 80 MHz and 160 MHz
  • Used WPA3-SAE
  • Used 11ax/be mode
  • Disabled randomized BSSID
  • Set transmit power to maximum
  • Rebooted and fully powered off the router
  • Factory reset the router
  • Did not restore the old configuration
  • Upgraded to the latest firmware
  • Reconfigured everything from scratch
  • Restarted the Samsung
  • Tested close to the router
  • Tested in airplane mode with Wi-Fi manually enabled

Samsung ADB shows:

wifi_last_country_code=HK
wifi_default_country_code=HK
mDriverCountryCode=HK
mTelephonyCountryCode=null
mOverrideCountryCode=null

The router country code appears to be DE.

Router SSH shows that the 6 GHz AP exists and is enabled:

I did not see obvious errors such as AP-DISABLED, failed to set beacon, interface initialization failed, or no available channel.

Current situation:

  • 2.4 GHz works
  • 5 GHz works on both phones
  • The 6 GHz interface exists
  • hostapd reports ENABLED
  • The Samsung previously connected to this router’s 6 GHz network
  • The Samsung can no longer detect the 6 GHz SSID
  • Factory reset and latest firmware did not fix it

Could you please confirm:

  1. Is this a known GL-E5800EU bug when switching between 5 GHz and 6 GHz?
  2. Could the DE regulatory domain cause hostapd to report ENABLED while clients cannot detect the SSID?
  3. Could the 6 GHz beacon, LPI/VLP mode, PSC information, power settings, or regulatory information be incorrect?
  4. Is there a test firmware or driver update available?
  5. What additional logs should I collect?
  6. If this cannot be fixed by software, should the device be replaced?

Thank you for providing the detailed test results and the Samsung Wi-Fi country-code information.

We have not been able to reproduce the same behavior in our local testing.

Could you please try forgetting the previously saved 6 GHz network on the Samsung phone, turn Wi-Fi off and back on, then move close to the router and scan again for the 6 GHz network SSID?
If convenient, could you please you also test with another device that is confirmed to support Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7?
