GL.iNet (Beryl AX) with wireguard has 10mbps or less speed

GL.iNet GL-MT3000 (Beryl AX) am I being throttled? I only get 10 mbps or less. Using wireguard . I have 2 of these routers the travel and the home router. xfinity is the isp at home.

I assume you're using a self-hosted WireGuard VPN, with your home router as the server and your travel router as the client, experiencing download speeds of 10Mbps or lower on the travel router side.

In this scenario, please check:

  1. The VPN download speed on your travel router is constrained by
  • The download speed of the network your travel router is connected to
  • The upload speed of the server (your home router)
  • Please let us know the upload and download speeds at both ends.
  1. How did you conduct the VPN speed test?
  • If using Wi-Fi, ensure you're connected to the 5GHz SSID, not 2.4GHz.
  • If possible, try a wired connection to see if it improves performance.

  1. Yes, some ISPs throttle UDP traffic.

  2. This situation may also occur when the connection quality between the internet service provider of the travel router and the internet service provider of the home router is poor (typically when crossing international or interstate borders).
