Excellent news. Do you have any plans on offering some affordable and reliable data plans to be used with this dongle?

I remember struggling quite a bit to get those working back in the day...Good to see this news.
I'd add that having officially supported drivers (with proper hardware tuning) for wireless devices is incredibly valuable as well.

However unlike before, there's plenty of compatible hardware info and custom drivers if limited to chipsets up to 4G LTE or 2.4/5GHz WiFi.
On the flip side, if they cover areas where official options are limited (e.g. 6GHz WiFi 6E support), this could be a game-changer.

Hi Is this working with Holafly (e-sim travel provider)? I am looking for something which I can plug into my Beryl AX travelrouter through the USB port to get 4G or 5G access to the internet and share the connection over multiple devices.
Is somebody having experience and can give some guidance to get this working?

Holafly is delivering a QR code and a manual way of connectiong, but how to get this on a USB dongle to get it plugged into the Beryl-AX.

I’ve just received my SIMPoYo uFi dongle and, while attempting to set up a PIN lock, I appear to have accidentally PUK-locked the device. It now requests both a PUK and PIN code to unlock, but I’m unable to locate these details on the device, its packaging, or any included documentation.

I’ve also tried performing a factory reset, but unfortunately, this did not resolve the issue. How can I manage to unlock the device or retrieve the PUK and PIN information?

Hello,

I found that you have sent an email to our technical support email, but there is no ICCID which it can be checked the PUK and PIN.

Please take out the SIM card and inform us of the long string of numbers (ICCID, begin 8985...) silk-screened on the SIM card.

Please put the SIM card into the phone and enter PUK1 to unlock it. After unlocking, unplug it and put it back into uFi for use.

Thanks to @Cathy and @bruce for promptly sorting this out for me. Lesson learnt not to try and change the PIN settings on this device unless one is 100% certain what the default PIN is.

So, seeing as I cannot see this anywhere, whats the CAT rating?

you state on the Specs it’s a MDM9207, but the MDM9207 is a WiFi5 capable chipset:

According to the specification sheet, it’s only CAT1, which is not a problem.

I’m just a bit lost that this information is missing from this forum thread and the campaign page:

what’s the underlying operating system, are you using Android or something else?

Also, the pinephone uses the same MDM 9207 modem and open firmware exists for this:

It’s also possible to unlock the bootloader of this modem to flash custom images, is this supported by GL-iNet?

Thank you so much for extending my network capabilities whyle traveling!
Got some feature/improvement requests.
I’ve tested it as a standalone device and with my slate 7.

  1. I’d like to have SMS forwarding option. Its usually a roaming SIM card and much useful info can come from operators - would not like to loose it, or move SIM to phone to read something.
  2. Also a data limiter would make a great deal to avoid overpricing.
  3. LEDs are useful, but soo bright. Brightness setting would be cool, but a LED off would be enough. Mobile device with with additional power saving option is a great deal, also as a travel device it should be placed on “good signal shelve” - and it usually brings unwanted attention or ilumination in dark room ). Perfect sscenario for me - LED off timeout on abcent errors. Lets say i would like to see green LEDs for a minute after successful connection.
  4. Also a stylish grey body would definately keep it “in family” with GL.iNet devices )

Also a question - SIMPoYo connects as a Thetering device - not as a Modem to my Slate 7. SMS forwarding and data limiter could be set up in Slate7 (more memory and power = more “space for dance”) - but i think mode switching for SIMPoYo is impossible?
