Gl-infra-builder target for MT3000

Reflashed with gl-infra-builder custom build. Manually configured ESSID/BSSID/Channel on the 2.4G band.

Getting lots of Luci restarts (and relogins) when trying to change settings.

A variety of wifi errors shortly after boot, then nothing:

Even though Marriott_GUEST shows a LINK UP, the station is not associated.

The station list shows that connected to your router GL-MT3000.

No, that shows what it’s trying to connect to. It should look like this down below (captured from MT1300):

(full Luci from MT1300):

In any event, the MT3000 does not pull an address on the APCLI interface, and does not show to be associated in Luci, as seen above. And again, I’m experiencing similar issues with Stock firmware, so it may just be a bug in both Beta2 and the Infra at the moment.

Another concern: is there a way we can rename the tailscale package included in the gl_inet_common repository such that those doing a custom build can include the “real” Tailscale instead? I don’t want want/need the various hacks in the GL repo (init scripts and such) in a stock build.

I’m not sure if this is the same bug, but I am having the same difficulty connecting to an Asus AIMesh node. The node is an AC68 with wired backhaul to an AX88. The AX88 main router has 2 SSIDs on the 5G radio (Home5G and Guest 5G) and 2 SSIDs on the 2.4G radio (Home and Guest). Those are passed to the AC68. The MT3000 has no difficulty connecting on those 4 SSIDs to the AX88, and no difficulty connecting to either Guest SSID on the AC68, but can’t connect to the Home5G or Home SSID on the AC68. I can see it show up in the client list on the AX88, and after 10 seconds or so disappear, almost as if it is failing to pull an IP address.

To be honest, it is equally likely to be a problem with AIMesh, and not the MT3000. I’ll watch for this in Beta 3.

New build on [b92960c], Luci does not load at all.

I tested just now. That’s a real problem.

This bug has been fixed.

Luci loads on 404b327. However wifi scans do not work on either interface (no networks found, ever):

e.g. repeater functionality is broken.

WiFi scan has been fixed just now.

The first scan on the first (798111) interface works, but “Join Network” in the results does not. The first time you try it, it gives a swirly for a bit, before changing back into “Join Network” (should proceed to the dialog to add the interface). After that, Luci appears to crash for a bit, but eventually responds. After that, a second scan (on the same interface) fails.

A scan on the second interface (798112) does work, even when the first one fails. “Join Network” at least takes you to the correct dialog to set up the network. However, the interface still does not associate to the uplink AP (ukweli_dev, in this case) with the default setting of “auto” for the channel:

It does associate when you assign a manual channel (annoying), so that should probably be fixed in the setup script (this is not standard OpenWrt behavior). Moreover, it does not show up in the associated stations dialog in the bottom. The only clue it’s working is the -50/-256 signal strength:

After joining the network with 798112, 798111 still fails to scan.

Additionally, scans do not work in Travelmate on either interface. I assume this has something to do with the non-standard radio interface names?

Also, the custom changes made to the tailscale init file break things because a normal build doesn’t have (or need) the gl specific config_enabled. Not great to not include gl-specific changes to stock packages in a stock build. As suggested before, the easiest fix is probably to rename the gl-specific package to something like glinet_tailscale or something, and let the stock package remain unpatched.

  if [ "$enabled" -eq "1" ];then
        procd_open_instance
        procd_set_param command /usr/sbin/tailscaled

edit 1: it’s also unclear whether the patches to the binary (to insert into table 55) also messes up tailscale from working entirely. Checking now.

edit 2: will have to reconfirm with gl-inet binaries after my next meeting, but as soon as i installed my own compiled tailscale / tailscaled everything worked, where it did not before.

Following the directions from post I responded to and using my own gitlab credentials, I am not able to obtain the sources. I did not easily find other credentials to use

You’re using the wrong target. Use the target_mediatek one, but don’t expect it to work well when compiled.
