Starlink on WAN and Wifi for Repeater with Multi-Wan setup.
Router will not Failover to Wifi when Starlink goes to sleep.
Tried the different detection modes no avail. It will work if Starlink is physically unplugged. Detection currently set to Normal. Starlink always keeps an IP address even when asleep, but it changes to a different range.
Enable Interface Status Track: If disabled the interface status tracking, the router will use the physical status of the interface (such as whether the network cable is plugged in or not).
PING to local (Starlink) IP or some Internet IP ? (1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8, ....) ?
Using Starlink IP ( eg 192.168.100.1) will not detect Internet connection problems.
Normal is the default detection mode. It doesn't specify what it does.
Enable Interface Status Tracking is ON.
Ping detections are set to default, 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 etc.
The web interface shows there is no internet on the WAN and its not lit green. But there is still no traffic routed to the Repeater, which is green, indicating online.
When Starlink is onlne is has an ip of 100.x.x.x. When its offfline it has an ip of 206.x.x.x.x.
If I physically unplug the WAN cable, the router Failsover to Repeater fine.
I was able to resolve this. It was a DNS issue. The Repeater was connected to an EERO which uses its gateway for the DNS. So that's the address it offered to the MT3000. It worked when startlink was connected because SL offers correct DNS IPs of 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8.
Fixed by running a manual DNS 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8. Under Network>DNS settings.
