same thing. if I provide a wrong password it tells me so, when I provide the correct password it reverts back to luci login page with no error message.
@Riho-shuu works in Incognito - good idea, thanks! it seems some extension then playing up. given I already disabled ad-guards, pop-up-blockers, and script-stoppers, something else I will need to figure out.
@Johnex my update was fine: the router works, the advanced web interface was accessed once from Chrome, only after several hours it did not let me in. Using different browsers also works. Therefore, even though there is something the router “does not like” so far i can not conclude the issue is with the router per se. the link you provided - thanks for that - duly noted and I saved it in case one day it might be required.
Out of interest, I think I will put Wireshark and sniff the session to understand what is going on on the wire. once compare good and bad sessions - will post my findings to the community…
OK, I sniffed the traffic and found that in the instance where I got no access, the browser passed
Cookie: QSESSIONID=31de131c0b079d0000; Admin-Token=4c857a5d1a284c8ba3771e10806a4cc9
and that was not the case in incognito mode.
I then launched F12 develper tool and deleted all cookies for the router’s web interface, and all works now!!
