I'm coming from dd-wrt where it is recommended to set a fixed wireless
channel frequency rather than using the 'auto' setting. Is there any similar guidance for the Flint 2?
What do most users do? Fixed or Auto? Which works best?
Both is fine, I prefer auto tbh.
Just try what works best for your environment.
This really depends, if set on auto it is slower to startup wifi because it checks on dfs automaticly until it finds a capable channel.
I often set it to auto but when i have to rule out a bug scenario or something i untrust it and use channel 36 for 5ghz (my country is Netherlands).
I noticed sometimes some funky things with auto mode with openwrt, it could interference with other sources like bluetooth everything what could be a electronic field could be wrongly detected as DFS.
My chinese soundbar and my flint 2 always managed to kick each other due to dfs
