I've bought a Flint 2 and want to use my Fritz Box 6490 Cable in bridge mode to provide an internet connection to the Flint 2 and use it in routing mode.
I'm running Firmware v4.6.6-op24 on the Flint 2. When I connect the bridged port from the Fritz Box to the WAN Port of the Flint 2 I get the following error message and not much else to go on:
The interface is connected, but the Internet can’t be accessed
I'm running DHCP mode, which worked fine with my old Netgear R7000, but for some reason the Flint 2 can't seem to handle it. I'm running it in AP mode for now so I can use Wifi 6, but I wanted it for OpenWRT, so if I cant figure out how to use it in router mode I'll have to return it.
Does anyboy have any tips on how to get it working? Thanks for your help in advance
Had a similar issue to. After much reading and troubleshooting got there.
Best way to enable wan on Ethernet 1. Connecting a Lan port on internet box/router to Wan on Flint2.Make sure your internet box is in Bridge mode and connect to a normal LAN port. Power off the flint2, connect to Wan from Lan on internet box. wait a few moments then follow connecting using IP address or App on phone. You should notice a connected ethernet 1 cable and trying to do something to get a connection. Options to modify using DHCP / Static may be required but I use IP4 internet or PPoE. The option for using IP6 is in the Network setting on the left. so was required to input Internet details username and password possible other setting may be required. Hope this helps. so LAN to WAN is the rule . Power off flint before connecting.
thanks for your reply. By enable wan on ethernet 1 do you mean on Flint 2 or on the Fritzbox? The Fritzbox is running in Bridge mode on LAN port 2, so I'm connecting Fritbox LAN port 2 (bridge mode) to the WAN port of Flint 2.
yes ether net 1 to wan. before you connect to WAn on the FLint 2 from you Fritzbox, unplug the Flint 2. PLug in Cable into the Wan port on the far left and now plug back in await for tit to boot up.
Exactly, thats why the FLINT2 needs to be configured as LAN.
BASIC network operation but GUI constraints prevent this most basic of operations....
Currently not fit for purpose........
Worth request in the Beta testing for 4.7 firmware or they might add to list to add for future OS updates. Hear your frustrations. For basic networking definitely missing. Please add Gl.INET
I've tried using the Drop-in Gateway mode, and connecting all my devices via LAN or Wifi to the Flint 2. It is not exactly what I wanted, but as long as bridging doesn't work as advertised it is a workaround that is acceptable.
