GL-MT6000 Flint 2 - SQM not shaping upload speed after a reboot

Follow the steps in this thread! You buffferbloat should be fixed.

what firmware version are you on now?

here is my complete note on this thread:

I'm using firmware: 4.6.2, release1, from gl-inet
I've installed: luci-app-sqm: git-21.188.55209-f161b40
I've edited the /etc/hotplug.d/iface/96-gleqos file as per instructions

I've set the interface to eth1
I've set both download and upload to 4000
Queue Discipline is set to cake
The startup script includes /etc/init.d/sqm restart

I've rebooted the router after making all these changes.

Update:
I've now disabled the netnat network acceleration.

Now it's shaping up

A+

thanks so much! was this test run via wifi or ethernet?

If you follow the steps above, it should work for you :slightly_smiling_face:

I run it on both

Why did you set to a so low speed?

Could you set the speed considering 90% of your contracted internet speed?

And then test the before and after?

To confirm it actually works

Check the speed that you set and the speed that you got on the speed test.

To confirm that it's working, set it according to your contracted internet speed. Something between 80~90%

Have you guys tried packet steering / irqlbalance?

Have you checked if it's only one core out of the four that gets 100% usage?

I don't have this kind of speed to test.

Guessing you haven’t yet merged it? Having the same issue with the upload speed on the latest firmware MT-6000

When will it be merged?

Or even better embedded into the gl-inert gui.

@Renato, fiber was installed <3

That's a a slap in the face :rofl::rofl::sweat_smile::joy::sweat_smile::joy:

Good results.
What is your contracted speed and what speed did you set for the SQM?

Any variability between rush hours vs other time of day?

1GB down, 600(ish)MB up. I've taken a 10% (roughly) buffer.

Hi! Do you still use SQM with your fiber connection and does it work as expected? I recently bought an Asus TUF AX-6000 and flashed it with openwrt but it looks like SQM QoS doesn't seem to address my issues.
I host a plex server on my NAS and whenever people are streaming from it, I get lag spikes when I play (Apex Legends). I already asked on the specific openwrt forum for this router and there are still some things to test, but in the same time I found that this Flint 2 could fit better my needs (and I'm interested in using docker on it).
I have a 2gbs (800mbs up) connection and despite the low bitrate files being streamed (around 5 to 15mbits usually, can go up to 50 but problems appear anyway with smaller files) my game quickly becomes unplayable. Plex uploads files by bursts, and that behaviour explains the spikes.
Anyway, I'm just looking for someone in a similar case who would have found a solution

@Kennit , I've been on v4.7.0 from GL. I have a 1GB up and down, but in reality it's more like 800MB down and 600MB up. So I set SQM it to 700MB down and 500MB up. Fast enough for me.

Could you please explain where I can find this file and what should I edit? I am not clear on this step. Thank you!
