Saw there was an update this morning. Decided to give it a try.
Wow, what a bad idea! =(
Entire network goes down. I have all my IOT / security on 2.4 and 5 is for personal.
Nothing would get an ip address.
Rebooted multiple times and turned off 2.4 and 5 kind of worked? It was weird.
I gave up after 2 hrs since it's almost dawn and I prefer security working vs beta test/troubleshooting.
Reverted to 2.5.8 + saved settings and network is fine again.
I don't necessarily plan on troubleshooting this further but wanted to report issue + symptoms for tracking purposes.
Additional details:
My network is router/modem combo from ISP (ATT) - one port goes to MT6000 LAN1. No other devices are connected. WAN is empty. Because ISP router uses 192.168.1.1 , Flint must use 192.168.8.1 (I don't recall if I set this or if system auto set it.)
IOT on 2.4 only. 5 G has special setting where antenna power is medium for most of the day and night time it is low.
Adguard has multiple selections (8 or 9, unable to get to that setting right now.)
Also unable to connect via app or router wirelessly after reverting firmware. LAN connection (as always) are fine.
Hello @username960505
Which version were you before the update ?
Because mine is already with this 4.6.2 version since I installed the router last week.
No, not « must ». But this is the default setting.
I personally changed this to 192.168.2.1 in order to not have to change all my reverse proxy entries
I also change the access port for the admin webui.
How do you manage to do that? I’m interested to do the same thing
Your router may have a problem.
I suggest you try to install again the firmware after backing up it through luci interface, and maybe you should reset the router… (10s on the reset button or do it with the webui. I had to do this yesterday because of my customization on AdGuard home yaml file made the router doesn’t recognize my admin password even if through ssh it worked fine. The restoration of the backup works very fine).
I only see a possibility to set on or off the WiFi network or reboot or shutdown the router.
Is there an option to lower the power of the WiFi in the schedule tasks?
I was hoping to not have to troubleshoot further, but it seems that half of my IOT items are "online" but also not connected properly to the internet (device itself shows connectivity, app shows they're offline)
Yeah, it's still not 100%. I have to make time next weekend since it works for now. I will manually update via wired. I'm wondering if the issue was wireless update via app.....
Edit: off the top of my head, there is some setting in the wireless settings. it's a drop down for low, med, high, max for wifi....
scheduler is also where you can set it to low/med/high/etc during special times. I use it to restart + set wifi power.
Still having issues. Adguard is basically broken from where I'm standing.
.... Copying and pasting message from other topic " Hostnames don't work with Adguard after update 4.6.2"
I reset the router multiple times -- as soon as I turn on adguard WITHOUT "AdGuard Home Handle Client Requests" router becomes extremely unstable.
I have reverted software to default 4.6.2 no adguard.
@ GL.inet staff - if you want to cheap out on testing / quality assurance, that is fine. Please don't fully release software in main until you get more people testing.
This completely wrecked router for me and it's like 6 hours of trial/error , researching, testing later... the only thing that I can determine is that adguard or software that adguard depends on , got updated with something and now it doesn't work. This was tested with 4.5.8 and 4.6.2 - after downgrading/upgrading and hard resetting + soft resetting and testing.
I bought this router for adguard integration. I previously had a pihole set up and wanted to consolidate. Luckily I didn't sell anything yet. I just have to pull the multiple wires/devices out of storage. If I go back, I'm definitely selling gl.inet routers and not coming back =(
One interesting note is that during installation, it said it would update kernel.
what's interesting is that this, too, also had the same issue -- wifi is slightly unstable after 24 hours. some IOT devices drop but are able to recover and reconnect. some IOT devices drop and appear to be online (on the device itself) but I am unable to connect directly.
I used to play around with network settings like these and 5+ years ago, I was able to figure it out. I'm not as patient and did not want to relearn or learn a few new network items (not to mention openwrt software is powerful and actually caused instability in ISP modem/router !)
So I switched back to op24 beta as mentioned before.
it appears to be stable-ish now? I was able to turn on adguard (basic settings) without many issues.
With this back and forth, 95% of IOT devices at home were able to connect and stay connected successfully without issues.
One of my devices, I am unsure why but it is permanently unable to connect to MT6000 (even after resetting.)
Other issue is I am no longer able to connect wirelessly to router. I must be hardwired into it.
This is super safe from security standpoint, but also annoying.
I tried reactivating app access but that appears to be disabled also.
I'm going to mark this as solution in case anyone is having similar issues and sees this topic in the future.
