GL-MT6000 v4.7.0 - Issue with MS teams connecting

I have just bought the GL-MT6000 and configured with my AT&T fiber (1 Gig connection). I have firmware version 4.7.0 and have all the defaults currently.

All services work except MS teams app. As soon as I connect to either the 2.4G or 5G wireless network of the MT-6000, MS Teams stops connecting at all (no messages, no calls etc.). I don't have any adblock or firewall rules turned on (other than whatever comes by default).

As soon as I connect to any other available network (either 2.4G or 5G), teams start to work normally.

I have scoured the forums for last 24 hours and even did full resets of the router 3 times, but the issue persists. I also turned on IGMP snooping, but that didn't make a difference.

I have looked at the logs available via the web interface of MT-6000, but couldn't decipher much.

Can someone guide me on where to look next?

Are on 4.7.0 stable or op24? I had similar issues with the op24 firmware. Going to 4.7.4 beta resolved it.

I have just updated to 4.7.4 beta and rebooted, but the issue still persists. Are there any logs I can collect from the router that will help troubleshoot? The regular system logs from the GUI are not showing any dropped or blocked connections.

Is there anyway to downgrade the formware to see if previous versions are working?

Thank you so much!

  1. Does the MT6000 enable and run VPN client function?

  2. If your work computer directly connect to AT&T modem, can MS Team be normally?

  3. If point 2 is available, you can check what is the MTU number of the AT&T modem interface? For example, it may be 1428 or more/lower, you can try ping www.google.com -f -l 1280 and change 1428. If the ping fails, continue to lower the value until the ping is open. Then manually set up a suitable MTU on the MT6000.

Hello Bruce, below are the answers:

  1. No VPN client function running. I didn't set anything yet.

  2. I directly connected both of my work laptops (one windows 11 and one MacBook Pro) to the LAN ports on the MT6000 via Ethernet cables. Teams still did not work.

  3. I then directly connected both of these to the ports on my AT&T Modem/gateway via ethernet cables. In this case Teams worked.

  4. Once I connected to the WiFi of MT6000 (tried both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz). In this case, Teams did not work.

  5. I connected to my other router (Asus XT9) via WiFi and Teams started to work properly.

  6. I also tried 4.7.0-op24 openwrt as recommended by some posters, but Teams did not work.

  7. I also tried setting the MTU to 1436 and 1472 on MT6000, and that did not help either :frowning:

I am at a loss trying to figure it out.....any further help is appreciated.

I ran a few more tests and here are results if these help in troubleshooting further:

  1. The MS Teams version I am using is in the screenshot below.

  1. I do have another ISP (T-mobile). So, I connected the MT6000 to the T-Mobile gateway and ran the same tests with MS teams. Ran into the same issue: No Teams messages can be sent and no calls can be made.

  2. Here is the screenshot when trying to send a message connected to wifi or ethernet of MT6000. Note the blank circle next to the message indicating it's stuck.

  1. Here is the screenshot when trying to send a message connected to wifi or ethernet of Asus XT9. Note the checkmark next to the message indicating the message is sent.

Are there any logs or debug information that I can collect and post for further troubleshooting.

Hello,

the image.png you posted could not display.

Please resend one more time, just copy and paste the image to the edit/reply window.

We did not reproduce this issue.

Could you please share the MT6000 with us via GoodCloud? And connect a client like windows laptop to the MT6000, and running the MS Teams software, let it keep re-trying login/connect to the Teams server (There have always been Teams traffic packages), we would like to check what interface/gateway drop or reject the Teams network packets.

@hitenv79 @bruce Hello, I am running into a similar issue although Microsoft Teams is working when on conference calls with my video off however, when I share my screen or am on video, I get dropped from calls.

I am using a GL.iNet MT3000 travel router client (firmware 4.7.0) to connect to a WireGuard VPN server on an Asus RT-AX88U. I used this same setup previously, without any issue in May 2023-September 2024.I recently upgraded client to the MT6000 and am having the same issue.

Any assistance in resolving this would be appreciated.

If MT6000 does not enable VPN client, will the screen share and video of MS conference be used normally?

To compare test, the MT3000 now enable the VPN client and connects to the AX88U server, does it work?
