I’m trying to troubleshoot a simple setup where I have ethernet going into the WAN port from my provider (Ting, if curious) and then from the LAN port to a desktop computer. My ISP uses DHCP and I get Internet service on the desktop computer for exactly 3 minutes and then it fails. If I go into OpenWrt to Network → Interfaces and restart the the DHCP client for the WAN it will give a new 3 minute period of functionality.
Has anyone seen this before? I’m a loss and didn’t see any issues in the forums similar to this.
Thanks for writing back. Here is the system log, then failure of Internet connection after 3 minutes and then restarting DHCP on WAN interface to temporarily restore:

Sat Nov 6 14:11:15 2021 user.notice firewall: Reloading firewall due to ifup of wan (wan)
I didn’t change the time. I had the unit powered off (since it was breaking things) so perhaps I accidentally grabbed some of the syslog entries from the prior run. I can confirm that on the GL-MV1000 that it gets the same IP address and DNS info over DHCP as I see on my Netgear Orbi when it is in router mode. This picks up Ethernet over a basic Adtran from Ting to convert fiber to Ethernet. I’ve opened a support ticket with them as well in case they have any ideas.
I tried a factory reset in hopes that this would resolve it, but the same thing is happening. I’m trying to reach their support group to see if there any other ideas.
I worked with the support group and we found the solution. I clones the MAC address of my Netgear Orbi router/mesh wifi system onto the GL router and then it worked consistently fine.
In this case, if you do not use mac clone, you may try reboot your ISP router/modem. If you just got a cable with DHCP, you may call ISP to asking them to reset their machine for you.
Further note on the solution here. The MAC clone worked for about 48 hours. I called my provider (Ting) and they needed to clear the MAC address of the previous router. Once that was done the GL.inet router works wonderfully. I hope this explanation helps anyone else who encounters this issue.
