I just noticed a beta test for GL-PAS100. What is that? I did not find anything about it on GL website.

I wonder about this to, would it be like the predecessor of the gl-usb150?

Thank you for your question.

There is not much information we can share about this new product at the moment. Currently, we position it as a Private remote access tool. It allows users to remotely access their own LAN and internet via their home IP address.

As for other software and hardware details, we do not have any specific information to share at this time.

Appears to be GL.INETs answer to the Unifi Travel Router but much more powerful.

I think that is the Mango 2. This seems to be more of a gateway to the rebranded Astrowarp for a single device that can’t run the software.

I can absolutely see the use case, and then the stronger use case. Someone traveling on business (hotels, trains, planes, airports), plugging in one dongle that after authenticating to a wifi and maybe a captive portal, then sets up an exclusive connection to the office or home LAN. No user knowledge required, other than the captive portal part. The stronger case would be a company issues a locked down laptop to the traveler with a locked down dongle. No internet access except through the company connection. I don’t think that is the UTR market, is it?

That I think would be the focus of the beta: in how many situations can someone who can barely plug in the office laptop connect to the office LAN, and only the office LAN, with no leakage or outside assistance.

I remember years ago my firm had a stack of laptops for folks to take on trips and vacations. Every single one came back infected with viruses. In every single case the employee swore that they were the only one using the laptop, and in every single case there were games installed by their kids.

It sort of is. I believe the UTR can be set up to do exactly that. Set up to automatically connect through VPN or Teleport to the remote system and route all traffic through the VPN. This can then only be changed by the site manager or owner. We don’t know much about PAS100 so it’s hard to tell how they compare as far as other features.
