GL-RM1 with non-IP KVM

I was messing around with the comet on an existing non-ip based KVM.
IT works great if I plug it into the USB Device sharing port, but will not work if I plug it into the keyboard or mouse port.

I know it's a crazy idea, but I thought I would give it a shot.. Any thoughts on if it's possible?

I found this link talking about changing the device type to force a Corsair Gaming RGB.

dd below line in /etc/kvmd/override.yaml

kvmd:
msd:
type: disabled
otg:
manufacturer: Corsair
product: 'Corsair Gaming RGB '
product_id: 26995
serial: ''
vendor_id: 26944

This seems to be the fix and better response to Linux Mint.

Wonder if the keep alive feature is missing from that kvm?

That is a very good question, I will have to dig a bit and see..

Everything works okay in what I'll call default mode (No override.yaml changes) if I plug the Comet into the USB sharing port. I can then control the computer no issues, if I power on with them in the keyboard even under windows it does not seem to work.

I change the override.yaml and everything works perfectly in the keyboard usb port including switching between devices.

IT works applying the override in the override.yaml, I'm a happy camper! The Comet is a perfect friend and helper,

Can you detail changes please?

I followed the instructions found here:

kvmd:
msd:
type: disabled
otg:
manufacturer: Corsair
product: 'Corsair Gaming RGB '
product_id: 26995
serial: ''
vendor_id: 26944

I used WinSCP to download the yaml file, edited with notepad++ and uploaded back.

Thank you!

If you connect it to a KVM switch, you should connect the comet's typeC HID interface to the switch's control USB for easy hotkey switching.

Yes once I changed the device type to the 'Corsair Gaming RGB', I was able to use the hotkey functions. Otherwise it would not work with the USB keyboard port only the USB Sharing port.

I hope they make a multi port comet one day!
