Hi all,
I’m having an issue with my GL.iNet GL-RM1PE and would appreciate some guidance.
The device works fine once the operating system has fully loaded, but I cannot get any video output during the pre-boot stage — specifically when the laptop prompts for the BitLocker recovery key input screen. Because of this, I’m unable to remotely access BIOS/UEFI or the BitLocker unlock screen through the KVM.
What I have already tried:
-
Tested multiple EDID profiles/settings on the GL-RM1PE
-
Closed the laptop lid to try forcing output to the external display
-
Rebooted several times after changing EDID settings
-
Tried connecting/disconnecting the HDMI capture during boot
Unfortunately, none of these steps helped, and the KVM still shows no display until Windows fully boots.
My setup:
-
HP laptop
-
GL-RM1PE connected via HDMI/USB
-
Issue occurs specifically during BIOS/BitLocker pre-boot environment
Questions:
-
Is there a specific EDID mode required for BIOS/BitLocker screens?
-
Does the laptop BIOS need to be configured to mirror or prioritise the external display during boot?
-
Are there any HP BIOS settings such as “lid closed behaviour”, “hybrid graphics”, “secure boot”, or “external monitor on startup” that need to be changed?
-
Has anyone successfully used the GL-RM1PE to view BIOS and BitLocker screens on HP laptops? If so, what configuration worked for you?
Any help or troubleshooting suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
