GL-SF1200 SSID disappear

I just bought a GL-SF1200 and I’m using it as a repeater, the problem is that the SSID disappear when I’m watching any streaming service, the only way to restore it back is connecting to the router on the 5Ghz SSID and then disabling and re-enabling the 2.4 Ghz SSID , it’s already running 3.212 firmware, it only fails during streamings.

any idea on how to solve this?

Many thanks!

So the router use 2.4G to repeat and use 5G to broadcast? Can you specify?

it’s broadcasting on both and using 2.4G to repeat, please find attached the “Wireless overview”
Many thanks!

I see. Seems you use 2.4G to repeater and broadcast on both 2.4G and 5G.

When this happens, can you get the log? You can get the log from Luci.

This is the log minutes before/after the drop:

What type of streaming service is used? Can you elaborate?
When using a streaming service, how long does it take to have problems? Is it inevitable?

I used SF1200 as a repeater according to your way, connected to 2.4g wifi, and used mobile phones to play videos. I did not repeat the problem.

Mostly with Netflix or Prime, but to be honest also happens sometimes without streaming, doing normal browsing but is not that common, the SSID disappear and is not visible anymore from any of my devices, and this is the second router that I try, I don’t know if is some kind of problem with the main signal, but regardless with the original signal the SSID should not disappear.

What device do you use to watch the video? Internet TV, mobile phone or PC?

Can you not modify the WiFi and change the TX power? Just because its on max doesn’t mean it will work better.

My Slate used to have intermittent ssid dropout but when connected it was fine, just had issues finding it to begin with. I’ve just got my beryl and although my many other devices can see the WiFi perfectly fine my Xbox Series X can’t see the beryl AT ALL and needs to be wired via ethernet.

The problem could be the router but it could equally be not the router. You need to find out if there is only one device dropping off or if ALL devices are dropped.

Also, check DHCP lease times and set it to 12 or 24 hours.

I just changed the power to “High” to see how it behaves, when the SSID drops is not visible on any device.

Smart TV but also happens any time while I’m just browsing or working. the weird thing is that is the second router (same model) that I try and the situation is the same.

But looks like the problem occurs when the Wifi activity or the bandwidth usage is high

Are those logs enough?

Ok, I will follow up this issue and inform you if it is fixed

Hi tarva85:

Can you provide the /etc/config/wireless file in the router?

I tested it for a week but no ssid disappeared.
