GL-SFT1200 USB Tethering

I recently picked up a SFT1200 to act as a bridge between my mobile phone that I'm using as a modem and my TP Link mesh network.

Layout is:
Phone > USB Tethered > SFT1200 > TP Link Mesh

Everything works as expected. However my phone battery is depleting within 24 hours. I was rather hoping it would provide enough juice to keep the phone charged 24/7

I have been using the provided power adapter and also tried a 3rd party quick charger which does provide enough power when the phone is plugged in directly or via a usb/ethernet hub (which is what I've been using to connect my mesh to my phone).

I was hoping someone would have an idea if it's possible to up the power from the USB port on the SFT1200 or failing that is there a device that will increase the power from a USB port and still maintain the tethering functionality.

TIA

The power of the USB interface of the SFT1200 is limited to about 5V 1A, which may not provide sufficient power to the cellphone. It cannot add the power.

May consider using a USB HUB which support external power supply.

Would a USB splitter be sufficient, Female to Dual Male USB A?
One of the Male ends in the Opal, the other Male end in a Power Supply for the phone, and the Female connection going to the phone?

This is assuming the Opal does not allow power in via the USB A port, and I cannot see any documentation confirming this.

Hey there! Why not try a USB hub with an external power supply? That way, you won't need to worry about charging on your router's power.

Like this kind of USB hub:

The 5V input supply only the hub devices, and not supply to the router via USB-A.
