GL should consider adding status leds to future models

Recently got a Flint 2 MT6000 and so far relatively impressed. Always wanted to jump on the OSS bandwagon but didn't want to risk bricking something. The features and abilities of this router are fantastic for more advanced home users.

Anywho, one thing I do miss are status leds. I do like the 'professional' aesthetic and appreciate the non-gamery lack of rgb, but it is handy to see if lan cables are properly connected and linked, and it's also handy to know that the radios are broadcasting and the router can see the internet. A small handful of leds can't add that much cost to modern products - and most routers offer the ability to turn off leds either by schedule or entirely by menu options. It appears that Openwrt supports led control, so that shouldn't be an issue. Sure, you can always log into the device and check these things - but when trouibleshooting it's often easier to just glance at the router to see what it's doing and go from there.

Just figured I'd toss this out there.

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback.

The next generation of products will display the functional status of the device through LCD screens, and may not require too many status leds indicators.

We will also consider adding some status leds to show the network port connection status, etc.
I will collect and hand it over to the PM for evaluation.

Thanks for the feedback! I don't really care about leds per se, so much as just being able to identify the status of the router and connections quickly by sight. A small lcd screen does just as well, if not better.

Please consider adding LEDs too. From a distance a red/blue/yellow/.... LED is much easier to identify for a quick status check. Then i do not have to take a closer look at a display.
