GL-X3000 802.11s mesh support

Hi,

I am interested in running a mesh with the GL-X3000 as one of the nodes.

I have been trying to set it up by installing the wpad-openssl package but it seems that the firmware offered by GL-iNet doesn't support it.
However I have managed to have it running when flashing a vanilla openwrt firmware, meaning the hardware is capable of running mesh and I assume the issue is a driver support in the GL-iNet firmware.
Would anyone know if there is a way to configure a proper 802.11s mesh with the GL-iNet firmware ?

Thank you in advance

Hello,

GL firmware of X3000 is based on MTK SDK and closed-source driver, perhaps not support the Mesh.

The Vanilla OpenWRT is an open-source driver, which is different from GL firmware.

If available, you can continually use Vanilla OpenWRT.

Hi,

Indeed that's what I thought.. Ideally I would like to use the nice GL-iNet interface to manage the modem/sim card while having mesh support.
Do you know if there are plans to bring mesh support to the GL firmware in the future ?

Hi,

Truly sorry. There are no plans probably at present, but perhaps some products supporting mesh may be released in the future, which will be determined based on market needs.

Hi,

Understood, thanks for the info
