So I have had this £450 paperweight for a while and was interested to see that new firmware had been released so plugged back in reset it fully then updated.
Put Three Internet sim in but still abysmal Speedtest showing 320-400mbps with 20mb upload but internet unusable and constantly hanging. If you try and download anything that’s the biggest problem it will show it downloading very slowly but once it reaches 99.5% it stops on every download.
Put the same sim back into zxel three 5g router and lighting fast no issues.
Support are no help obviously me paying only pittance for a router £450 is beneath them to even warrant a response, why are these foreign companies allowed to sell useless rubbish to countries they know they don’t work in.
Hi @GothamArkham did this issue begin after the firmware update, or has it always been present?
To improve the cellular speed, here are some tips you can have a try and see if it helps:
Make sure all antennas are connected properly, and advised to use the original power adapter
For Three sim card, adjust the following cellular settings through manual setup:
Your £450 router's issues (slow, unusable internet despite fast Speedtest, and downloads stopping at 99.5%) with a Three SIM, while your Zyxel works perfectly, strongly suggest a firmware bug or incompatibility specific to the expensive router.
Possible causes include:
Firmware issues: The recent update might have introduced bugs, especially with TCP/IP handling or memory, causing download stalls.
Network optimization: The router may not be correctly aggregating Three's 5G bands or have proper network profiles.
Incorrect settings: APN or MTU size could be misconfigured, leading to instability.
To troubleshoot, try these steps:
Downgrade firmware: If possible, revert to an older, more stable firmware.
Verify APN: Manually set the correct Three UK APN.
Manual DNS: Use public DNS servers like Google or Cloudflare.
Adjust MTU: Experiment with a slightly lower MTU size (e.g., 1420-1472).
Factory Reset: Perform another factory reset after any firmware changes.
Disable IPv6: Temporarily disable IPv6 to see if it improves stability.
Optimize placement: Ensure the router has good signal strength.
The frustration with expensive, underperforming Official Website foreign tech is understandable, as companies often don't test for every specific regional network nuance.
