GL-X3000 Frimware / Uboot upgrade problem

Hello,

I recently bought a GL-X3000 (Spitz AX) second‑hand.

From the first power‑on, when I tried to connect it to my ISP box, I could not access the router at all:

  • Only the power LED turns on
  • No other LEDs light up
  • I cannot reach the web admin interface in normal mode

After searching your documentation and forums, I saw there are known startup and U‑Boot recovery issues on GL‑X3000 devices and that they may require a U‑Boot/firmware fix.

So I followed the U‑Boot web recovery procedure:

I connected my PC directly via Ethernet to the router, with a static IP 192.168.1.2 / 255.255.255.0

I accessed U‑Boot at: http://192.168.1.1 and http://192.168.1.1/uboot.html

U‑Boot version shown: U-Boot 2022.07-rc3 (Mar 09 2023 - 16:20:34 +0800)

Then I tried to upload the official firmware file for GL‑X3000 from your download page:

  • Firmware: 4.8.3 (MTK / 21.02 / Active) for GL‑X3000
  • File name: x3000-4.8.3_release3-902-1106-1762433696.bin

But every time I try to flash this file via U‑Boot, I get:

I also retried multiple times, with a different browser and after re‑downloading the same firmware file, but the result is always the same: U‑Boot refuses the image as “wrong file”, even though it is the official GL‑X3000 4.8.3 firmware. I also tried the 4.7.4 frimware, result is the same.

Could you please advise if there is any further recovery method I can try at home ?

Additional details:

  • Model: GL‑X3000 (Spitz AX, 5G NR AX3000 Cellular Gateway Router)
  • LEDs: only power LED on, no other LEDs
  • U‑Boot: U-Boot 2022.07-rc3 (Mar 09 2023 - 16:20:34 +0800)
  • Firmware file used: x3000-4.8.3_release3-902-1106-1762433696.bin
  • Access only via U‑Boot web interface (no normal web UI available)

Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards,

Try a different web browser. You are doing everything right.

Hi,

Please refer to this guide:

  1. First, download the U-Boot file and update it
    File name: uboot-xe3000-20250225-md5-05fadd9da27314d41dbadc6fbd239b3d.bin
    Download: https://github.com/gl-inet/mt798x-boot/raw/refs/heads/main/bin/uboot-xe3000-20250225-md5-05fadd9da27314d41dbadc6fbd239b3d.bin
Access this page to update: http://192.168.1.1/uboot.html

  2. Then, check whether U-Boot has been successfully updated. If it has, proceed to reflash the firmware
    File name: x3000-4.8.3_release3-902-1106-1762433696.bin
    Download: https://fw.gl-inet.com/firmware/x3000/release/x3000-4.8.3_release3-902-1106-1762433696.bin
Access this page to update: http://192.168.1.1/

If it still doesn’t work, please contact the seller to see if they can provide the original proof of purchase (sales channel and order number). Then send an email to support@gl-inet.com to request after-sales support.

I had exactly the same problem. I am afraid your router is f***ed!. I tried to serial revive mine it but the chip is fried. If you don’t have the original order number you’re screwed.
