GL-X3000 modem upgrade (for firmware v4.8.3)

Hello,

I would like to use last 4.8.3 firmware (multiVPN instance is great and multicard switching is working far better, and 4G connection is more stable).

I recently tried firmware 4.8.3 for glx3000, but I had 5G random instability (disconnections).
I reverted it to the 4.7.4 Firmware.

Glinet Firmware v4.7.4 with modem firmware version RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G is the only stable version for 5G so far (from purschase).

Im still having the Modem version : RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G (untouched / unflashed so far ). My mobile French operator is SFR/reglomobile (mvno) 5G NSA.

I have heard that to solve 5G stability issue with router firmware 4.8.3, I have to update the modem firmware from RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G to RM520NGLAAR03A04M4G ( in date of 2024-3-28).

Should I really flash the modem firmware (Im scared to kill the modem)?
Should I use ssh-cli flashing method or from admin panel ?

Do you know where I can find that official image ?

What would you suggest ?

Thanks for yours replies

Hello,
May I ask if the device can automatically reconnect after the network drops when using v4.8.3?
This issue does not seem to be related to the modem firmware. For firmware v4.8.3, please try:

  1. change to software acceleration mode under the admin panel ->NETWORK ->Network Acceleration page
  2. edit the sim card settings and set MTU to 1420

Hello,

Thanks for your answer. I had to perform to some new tests to see what kind of errors there are with 4.8.3.

For the first test seems to reconnect to 5G itself, but althought the green internet led and internet statut seem to display intenet connection ok, I had no internet connection through wifi for long period of time for several time. There are also lot of conection and disconnections of the modem.

I changed modem settings as requested to :

  • software acceleration
  • mtu 1420 in simcards settings
  • I disabled "Interface statuts track" know to cause issuses to the 5G connetion stability
  • single sim card setup here (no fallback with a second one)

I performed a second different test .
Here I added a second sim card in fallback mode. I always starts with 5G connection with sim card 1 while the second sim card is just a backup in 4G only. The 5G modem seem to reconnect itself. The following day when i go to the admin pannel, I see that the modem switched to the second sim card (fallback which seem stable in this configuration). When I try to switch back to 5G (sim card1), the following day the modem switches again to sim card2 (4G only). I had this scenario several time this week. Here is another log below. There are also lot of conection and disconnections of the modem.

I changed modem settings as requested to :

  • software acceleration
  • mtu 1420 in simcards settings
  • "Interface statuts track" is enabled for this test (in multiwan settings)
  • dual sim card setup here : sim card1 is 5G sim card 2 is 4G only
