GL-X3000: Multi-Wan Priority not working after SIM swap

Hello,

I have a Spitz X3000 running firmware 0701release3. I have both SIM card slots loaded with SIM cards. I also have a wireguard vpn client connected at all times. The issue is if I switch the active SIM card using the web interface (SIM Card Slot Settings) with a WAN (eth0) connection as my #2 priority for failover, it does not switch back to using data from modem_0001 after switching between cellular sim cards and the modem comes back online; and instead continues to route all data through my WAN (eth0) connection. The priority order for my Multi-WAN is as follows:

kmwan.wan.metric='2'
kmwan.wwan.metric='5'
kmwan.tethering.metric='4'
kmwan.wan6.metric='2'
kmwan.wwan6.metric='5'
kmwan.tethering6.metric='4'
kmwan.modem_0001.metric='1'
kmwan.modem_0001_6.metric='1'
kmwan.secondwan.metric='3'
kmwan.secondwan6.metric='3'

I have observed data from LuCi still rapidly ticking up with usage on WAN (eth0) after the modem is connected (and see only kilobytes of data usage after a period of time from the modem). If I execute /etc/init.d/kmwan restart (after modem is reconnected to new cell network) it appears to resolve this issue.

Please advise!

Hello,

Please refer to:

Please observe one more time, whether if the new session traffic will go to Modem (First link)?

Hello bruce! Hope all is well. Not sure what solution/information I'm supposed to catch there? I am aware that new connections (should) be routed over any uplink available, based on priority in Multi-Wan (and having Failover selected, not 'load balanced').

I have observed traffic in LuCi for over an hour, and even generated new data streams (i.e., streaming via phone or browser after a period of time and force-closing/reopening apps). Unfortunately, the modem is not generating traffic, at all. It remains in the low-kilobytes of usage even after an hour. I have however observed what appears to be all of that traffic going over WAN (eth0). My cellular connection stays at 4G and no data usage. If I then run '/etc/init.d/kmwan restart', almost immediately you see cellular traffic start going up, and my cellular connection goes to 5G (on a Verizon network). Things then work as expected, and NO traffic over my WAN (eth0) as expected.

Hello,

Just following up with this issue. Has anyone been able to reproduce these results? Any help is appreciated!

Please upgrade the firmware to v4.7.4.

When the high-priority interface back to work, 1hour later, but the Mutil WAN did not restore to use the high-priority interface, please SSH to the router, execute conntrack -F, to see if it backs to work.

Hello bruce,
No, that has had no impact on the issue. The output of that is:

root@GL-X3000:~# conntrack -F
conntrack v1.4.6 (conntrack-tools): connection tracking table has been emptied.

Unfortunately, cellular usage remains at near zero (82 KB after an hour) and all traffic is still going over WAN (eth0). I have 21 devices on the network, so it's easy to know which way data is being routed pretty quickly. Please advise and thank you!

Hello,

Please wait a while, I ask the R&D to check this question.

Update:

Could you please share your router with us via GoodCloud? R&D would like to check the router environment/situation remotely, since we have not reproduced this issue on the lab, necessary to manage a remote check.

Please PM me the router MAC and the Web UI login password.

Hello,

Please let me know if the issue reproduces and please share the router with us to check the multi-wan process.
