GL-X3000 Network Storage failure

Hello,

I recently bought a GL-X3000 5G router, which I am very happy with. However I have recently tried to use the Network Storage feature, and this is not working well at all.

I used Samsung 512GB FIT Plus USB Flash Drive, which I formatted to the Ext4 filesystem using a Linux PC, before inserting into the GL-X3000 router. I created a new directory on the new drive, then created a user account and a Samba share, and set everything up according to the instructions in:

Initially it seemed to work well, and I can connect to the share from multiple PCs. However there is a problem when I try to copy a large file (EG 200MB or more) from the share to a PC, running either Linux or Windows, whereby the share stops working. When I log into the router's admin site, it shows that the USB stick is no longer inserted, "Please insert the storage device first". If I stop and re-start Samba, it is still the same. It seems that the only way to recover, is to physically remove the USB stick and re-insert it. The problem is, that this happens EVERY time I try to copy a large file from the Samba share.

I have also tried repeating the set-up but using a different USB stick from Sandisk, and exactlythe same thing happens.

For more information, the firmware version info is as follows:

Version 4.0 Firmware, Type 0704release5
OpenWrt 21.02-SNAPSHOT r15812+911-46b6ee7ffc

I have no plugins installed, I am not using a VPN etc, and I have a basic network configuration using a single SIM card for internet.

Any help in resolving this problem will be gratefully appreciated.

Kind regards, Toonie.
