GL-X3000 Serious Wifi Issue

Greetings,

Reaching out as I have two X3000 cell routers and both seem to be having a serious issue with the WiFi driver flooding 'PeerProbeReqSanity failed' errors continuously from boot, consuming all RAM, making router unusable. Tested multiple channels, all fail.

It’s weird because they both started crashing within hours (not at the same location) and now I have to disable the wifi just to access the internet… what could be going on?

Hi

The error PeerProbeReqSanity is usually caused by IoT devices (or other clients) sending Wi-Fi probe data frames that do not comply with the IEEE 802.11 specification.

Please try the following:

  1. Check whether there are any wireless devices in your home that are connected to the X3000 Wi-Fi but cannot connect properly. If so, temporarily disable them to see whether the issue still occurs.

  2. Check which frequency band the affected device is connecting to; it should typically be 2.4 GHz.

  3. Try adjusting the 2.4GHz settings to 11b/g/n + WPA2 only, or WPA/WPA2 + fixed 20 MHz channel width + fixed channels 1/6/11 to see if it helps:

  4. If the issue still occurs, go to LuCI → System → System → Logging and enable saving logs to flash storage. After the issue happens again, export the device logs and send them to us via private message for further analysis:
