I have a GL-X3000NR that is currently set up with T-Mobile prepaid. I want a second carrier (preferably AT&T, but Verizon would work) to ensure I have coverage. AT&T doesn't recognize the IMEI, Verizon says it is incompatible.
What is the solution?
You will need to change the IMEI for the modem before switching sim slots or get a SIM that is not tied to specific hardware/IMEI.
Let's say I just want to switch it over to AT&T. Anything I need to do other than closing out T-Mobile?
The SIM was likely paired with another cellular device. Did you take it out of a hotspot, tablet, or phone before trying to put it in your router? You need to set the IMEI number on the router to match the IMEI of the device it is paired to. Also, you may need to look up the appropriate APN for the device the SIM was assigned to. Google searches should be fruitful for the APN and use the search function on this forum to find the command to change the IMEI. I strongly recommend writing down and keeping the default IMEI number of the router BEFORE changing it so you can easily change it back if needed.
The router was originally set up with a brand new T-Mobile Prepaid SIM. They have something called Port Protection which I am hopefully getting removed successfully.
If I do need to change the IMEI, how do I do that? I will be getting a new AT&T SIM.
Sorry for the dumb questions.
Thanks
It is easy. Use the search function on this forum. It is the magnifying glass icon in the top right corner. Search for change imei and it will show you clear instructions.
