GL-X3000NR not connecting to EE mobile network in UK

Hi, I have a new GL-X3000NR Spitz AX which will not connect to the UK mobile network EE. I get the message SIM card not registered. I have tested the SIM in other devices and it works fine and have tried EE technical support without any luck. Any help will be much appreciated.

Can you update both the routers firmware and the modem module firmware? Then try again.

The app shows that the firmware is up to date. Please see below details of current firmware:

|Current Version|4.0|
|Firmware Type|0409release3|
|Compile Time|2024-06-1513:30:17|

What about the modem module firmware ?

Sorry but what modem firmware?

Reference:

Log into the modem by ssh and run the following commands:

opkg update && opkg install unzip
cd /usr/bin/
wget https://fw.gl-inet.com/tools/quectel_tool/QFirehose-mtk7981a-sha256-c0b944
chmod 775 QFirehose-mtk7981a-sha256-c0b944

Thank you for your assistance, but this is well outside of my computer knowledge.

I will be using a Mac and have read the attached document about using Terminal to log into the modem, however, by “run the following commands” do I just copy that text into the command prompt and press enter?

Exactly! After logging into the router using ssh, just copy all the commands above at once and paste into the terminal and press enter. Wait till it finishes.

Thanks for your help. In the end GL.iNet support updated the firmware by GoodClould, unfortunately this has not resolved the issue. EE tech support confirmed there was no issues with the SIM card or the routers IMEI being blocked.

Unfortunately the router is going back to GL iNet as defective. Which is a shame as it promised so much, but a mobile router that will not connect to a major mobile network provider is not much use!

I will be getting a Teltonika router, hopefully with better results.

It looks a very good router, just make sure to buy the RUTC50 modem as it supports WiFi AX.

My only problem with Teltonika is that has only Gigabit ports whereas GL X3000 has 2.5 GB, which supports my 5G high speed connection. In other words, if your 5G connection is over 1 Gbps, it gets throttled over Ethernet.

Waiting your feed back when you get the box
