By side of that : now that I have an upgraded modem wouldn't it be easier to restore the whole device to the latest version ?
4.3.17 is the latest firmware of the xe300

Did this end up being resolved? I am having the same issue, can receive SMS but cannot reply/send.
There appears to be no option to send.

Am stuck on the second last line "Cannot open output file: File exists"
The first time I did this, a system error dialogue box popped up just as I was trying to upgrade Quectel module software.

The file already exists, therefor you can't save it (again)
Run rm QFirehose-* before to clean up.

Thanks all. Took a bit of time but I upgraded modem firmware to EP06ELAR04A22M4G. Unfortunately the SMS screen is still the same. It's Ok though, while a handy function, I can learn to live without it.

It's a GL-XE300, Current Firmware Version 4.0 Firmware Type 0323beta2, EP06ELAR04A22M4G and it's shared in GoodCloud with gl.inet_support. The device id is sy482b6.
Since the version 4.0 the feature to send SMS is disabled. I even upgraded to the latest to manage the eSIM, it's working perfectly but the SMS still no.
Just to mark here, problem solved and fix will be in firmware 4.5 and later.

Seems like there is a 4.7 version ahead but right now, our PULIs are limited to a 4.0 beta.
This device will only receive a 4.5 but not a 4.7 if I understand correctly ?
