GLinet Slate constant disconnect in repeater mode

I have been using this router for a couple months and have been plagued by constant disconnects every 10-20 minutes while in wifi repeater mode.

It is NOT a power supply issue.

The topics on these forums with the same problem say “(issue solved)” but I couldn’t find any resolution in the thread after following all advice.

Is anyone else having this issue? What did you do to fix it? It is very annoying!!

What’s the firmware are you using for? Could you please send me the system log? Which you can find in Luci > Status > System Log.

I believe the issue has been resolved by turning off the auto scan and reconnect feature.
Since i turned it off, it has remained connected.
The firmware is most recent version.
I will post here again if I am disconnected, but I suggest you guys take a look at the code for the auto scan and reconnect feature.
Thanks for replying.
Great service as usual.

Okay it seems that wasn’t the issue… It just happened again as I posted my last reply.
I can only post the last several lines in the log, as the character limit here is 3000.

Also, I can still see the signal for 2G on my device. Seemingly, only the 5G signal cuts out every few minutes. It is plugged into a USB with the supplied cable.
This is very frustrating, as I am trying to work and am being interrupted every few minutes.

Been watching it closely over the last 24 hours, and it seems just very random. Hopefully the logs above show something?

It always attempt to reconnect. Would it causes by weak signal? Are you use 5V/2A power adapter for Slate?

No it is not a power issue.
The signal is strong enough for a laptop to remain connected, so why cant your hardware?
I find it hilarious that I give a good amazon review, then suddenly the thing starts working like crap.
Im ready to throw this in the trash.

I use my slate in repeater mode as well and have the same issue. But i know what is the cause on my side: i login on a hotspot that only allows 10 clients or something. If someone else connects, i get kicked i guess. Since the the client side is not connected, the router side (same radio) drops as well.
I got used to it, perhaps your issue is a bit the same (crowded hotspot you repeat)?

Nope, its repeating a private signal.
Appreciate the input!

Just forget it… I changed my feedback on amazon to 2 stars and just threw the slate in the trash.
It doesnt even work anymore at all, and im not going through this headache any more.

I had the same kind of trouble…Just solved making all in Luci…wireless…scan…join…here I put a name like wifi1 (or what you want) and then in advanced interface name, I put another name BUT NEVER “wlan-sta” that is the name automatically when you do this in WebUI. And never disconnects me again.
Thx
But the only thing is that you cannot see it in the WebUI first page connections even if you are connected in WISP mode…only that.

I’m trying this as of now, since this topic interests me as well. I notice that this router is offline in goodcloud as well since I didn’t configure as “wlan-sta”. Can you verify this on your side? Or you don’t use this?

Sorry I don’t use goodcloud.
But my AR750S never disconnects in WISP mode since I join WIFI networks in Client mode only with Luci and no “wlan-sta” named interface.

Same issue here. Using the stock power supply and having disconnects every 5-10 min if in repeater mode. It looks like it is rebooting because it goes through booting every time. Tried 3 different power supplies (yes, I have 3 Slates). When I disabled the 2.4Ghz (that is the Wifi spot I am connecting to) and let only the 5Ghz on then the issue is gone. I am using the latest 3.0.25

Okay seems to work, goodcloud came back after a reboot. However i do have to restart the radio frequently. Everything is up and connected, yet internet is not coming through…

Send the content of your /etc/config/wireless /etc/config/firewall and output of

ifconfig

To have a check. As you changed the interface you may need to modify firewall as well.

I have the same issue. Frequent random disconnects when repeating 2.4G and 5G networks, no problems when hard-wired on 3.0.25. I will try the Luci workaround and report back, but this behavior really reduces my trust in this device.

I have a AR750S in Wisp/Client mode 2,4 Ghz channel to a router that is 20m outside home (15mbps connection) and my devices are connected to this one or to another AR750S (in WDS 5Ghz mode to the Wisp router) and depending in which zone of the house the devices connect to router #1 or #2. Not problems so far, my connection never fails even when downloading heavy files and 4 or 5 devices connected at the same time (most of them at the 2,4Ghz.) But I made connection with Luci and never put “wlan-sta” as name of interface. Bye
