GLKVM Mobile App 1.0.0 (iOS&Android) Open Testing is Now Live! šŸŽ‰

Noticed today that the latest version fixed the mouse for me. Just FYI. Text is fuzzy on either normal or smart settings. It's finally useable! Just wish it worked in the browser. Hate having to open an app for this.

Excited to see an Android app. Hope support for local connection (without cloud) is under consideration.

I recently bought the GL-RM1PE and I quite like it, but I’m only interested in using it in local mode (no cloud), and maybe with wireguard to my own network someday.

Also appreciate for the relaxed minimum Android version support. I have some older devices like tablets and it’s nice to see I could run in on all of them.

I am getting an error about unknown environment on Android 16 (freshly updated)

On which page is the error? It would be even better if you could provide a screenshot

Some suggestions:

  1. Support keyboard/mouse input when there’s no video output (to wake up the host computer)
  2. Add symbol input support for virtual keyboard (like !,@,#,$ …)
  3. Move video output up when the keyboard is displaying.

1.It’s already on our roadmap.
2.Actually, if you press Shift + the other symbol(like shift+/ - - - -?), it will input the target character. We’ll add those symbol icons to the virtual keyboard.
3.Yes, it does block some input fields. For now, you can zoom the video upward to avoid it.

Thanks for your suggestions!:nerd_face::nerd_face:

Hello! I have an Android TV enabled monitor and I’m interested in using the app.
Any plans to bring the app to Android TV? It feels like a perfect fit for a thin client kind of setup.
I’ve tried sideloading the APK but it doesn’t work properly (the app keeps spinning in a circle).

For now I’m stuck with Chrome for Android to use the KVM, but it’s not the best experience…

I really like this app so far

But I'm missing local use, I really like this local as I'm already using my wireguard server infra as cloud.

Some keyboard suggestions:

In linux you often have ctrl+x, ctrl+ad, ctrl+c, ctrl+z, but it requires for ctrl to be sticky like shift, are there plans to add this to the keyboard?

Been testing the iOS app on a 13-inch iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard, really enjoying the app overall! A few things that would make the iPad experience much better:

  1. Scroll speed (trackpad) – scrolling via the Magic Keyboard trackpad is super slow, almost unusable. A sensitivity setting or faster default would help a lot.
  2. Text selection (trackpad) – click-and-drag selection doesn’t work with the trackpad. I have to double-click then shift+arrow to select text. Would love native trackpad selection behavior.
  3. Display scaling – the app doesn’t handle screen resizing well, which limits using the full iPad Pro display. Would be great if it could support custom resolutions or play nice with tools like BetterDisplay to maximize screen real estate.
Thanks for all the work on this!

I really like this app because drag operations work flawlessly. However, I really need local access, since most of the time I use it in a closed network environment.

Also, is there any way to perform drag operations when accessing the app through a browser on a touch-enabled device (such as a tablet PC)? This would be extremely helpful for my workflow.

My feedback on the Android app so far:

  • Almost every time I run the app it asks for Google login (ā€œtoken invalidā€ error message)
  • No local control by IP address
  • Missing Wake On Lan
  • Does not remember the KVM device local password
  • In touch mode it's difficult to do double clicks because when you tap with 2 fingers the cursor moves to the first finger location of the two; instead the cursor shouldn't move but only perform a left click on the actual pointer position
  • In touch mode you cannot drag if you have zoomed in a part of the screen (try to move a window location for example)
  • The ā€œno signal from HDMIā€ message appears on top of the interface, so it's very difficult to access the BIOS/UEFI on fast computers because you don't have the phisical time to open the keyboard to press DEL and you cannot change the settings neither
  • The keyboard does not remember the last state, so if I need the DEL or cursor keys I always have to scroll from right to left (and this take time and you lose the ability to enter the BIOS at startup)
  • If you manage to reach the BIOS, you can't read what's on the screen because the keyboard is placed on top and not semi-transparent. How can I see which item am I selecting with the virtual cursor keys?

I would need that too and apparently it is not possible yet.

Hi, I posted a comment in Kickstarter regarding some issues with the app and after asking for the best place to report those issues they provided me with the link to this forum, so I will just paste the same comment here.

ā€The GLKVM (Glinet) mobile app needs serious improvements. It is really hard to control the cursor. The touch mode is not accurate, and it doesn't click where I want, so I switched to cursor mode. Then I realized it is also impossible to control the cursor properly even in this mode. When I want to just move the cursor (sliding my finger), it always enters "drag" mode, dragging elements, icons, etc. It has messed up my OS apps and desktop icons, and I had to disconnect before causing more issues. Either you fix this by introducing or increasing a delay while keeping the cursor stationary and holding the finger pressed to enter "drag" mode, or you find another proper implementation, but you need to fix this issue, please. Also, fix the touch mode, as it never clicks where I press. The cursor never moves to the pressed location, and it always presses elsewhere. This is very frustrating since I can't control my device using my phone. *Please fix this soon.*ā€

I wasn’t aware that the app was only released a few days ago. I can now better understand why those issues exist. I just hope they’ll be resolved soon. Thanks!

Thanks for your detailed feedback. We’ve added these requests and issues to our roadmap — they’re very helpful to us. Some of them will be improved in future versions, especially the HDMI-related issues.

Regarding the double-click behavior: in touch mode, a double click only requires one finger. Tapping with two fingers will trigger a right-click, so we’re a bit confused about the two-finger interaction you mentioned.

As for dragging after zooming in: in touch mode, drag gestures may conflict with horizontal video panning when the screen is zoomed. In this case, we recommend switching to cursor mode if you need to drag windows while zoomed in.

Thanks again for your feedback — it really helps us improve the product.

Thanks for your feedback. The drag issue will be fixed in future update. For the inaccurate clicking issue, could you let us know your phone model and the EDID setting you’re using? We recommend using a 1080p EDID for better control accuracy on mobile.

Thanks for your feedback — we’ve added some of these requests to our roadmap.

Regarding the drag issue:Have you turn on the AssistiveTouch on your iPadOS? If AssistiveTouch is disabled, drag gestures may be blocked by the system.

For the display scaling issue, we’d like to better understand what you mean by screen resizing. Could you share a bit more detail so we can improve the experience?

Thank you for your response. The phone model is a Rog Phone 9 Pro. Regarding the EDID setting I’ve actually tried all available options and I experienced the same issue.

When performing remote control on a web KVM, if the mouse mode is set to relative mode and Show Local Cursor is enabled, will the two mouse pointers overlap? I want to confirm whether the same issue on the platform does not exist.

Is this a response to my issue report or to someone else?

Because I tried this but I’m confused because when using the desktop app (which I think it acts just the same as in the web version) as soon as I click on the screen area it captures the cursor so it seems it indeed overlaps both cursors or the cursor gets hidden from the device using the app to control the other computer and just show the cursor from the device being controlled. In any case, whenever I click on the screen area and move the cursor it moves the cursor from the place where the cursor from the device being controlled is, not starting to move the cursor from the coordinates where I clicked the screen area, which I suppose it is the expected behaviour.
