I moved my MacBook from wireless to wired but the historical data did NOT follow the change. I certainly want the data to follow the device (by name) as opposed to the interface (by MAC address).

Yes,but it’s not a bug.
The historical data does NOT follow the change if you only change your client link way,because the device data is followed by MAC address.
The device name is not a good unique identification,it can be modifed easily by people.If you want to follow the device (by name),the historical data will be lose when your client name is modified.
