That’s cool. and beside the LCD KVM and manage more servers. What do you value most in this type of device?

My only issue is the design with the lcd :slight_smile:

If a server or patch panel comes above there might be not enough clearance, would a sleek drawer design not be a better idea ?, and then in a way you also have more movable arms what you sometimes also see on tv wall stands.

This will solve the issue of having obstructions and for future changes with minimal impact on space.

With the current design it forces a person into a fixed cabinet position which is not handle friendly for management.

Yeah maybe I wasn't clear, I was suggesting it should be a pull out draw. Pulls out far enough to then lift the panel up.

The idea of being easy local access just by swiping to different servers on comet, while also have all the remote power built in.

Sure you can accomplish the same thing with the comet x if you just plug those peripherals in yourself, but this would just give you a clean rack solution.

Small cheap LED, small cheap keyboard, and cheap track pad paired with the comet x’s smarts, slap it all in 1u form factor case.

Frankly, we're seriously considering this design. Adding a lcd and keyboard would make our solution more complete, and the pull-out design would be more convenient. I think it should have the following features:

  1. It needs 8 to 16 ports, a pull-out rail mount, a keyboard and touchpad, and a 14-inch lcd.

  2. It needs to have all VGA ports, or at least half of them, plus a number of HDMI, DP, and even Type-C ports.

  3. Each port has independent power control.

  4. Multi-user support.

  5. Support for expansion interfaces, allowing connection to additional KVM switches.

I think it's doable as a simple STL as well. Instead of including the screen and keyboard, just have an indent designed to hold a lapdock. You'd need to buy some metal sliding rails to attach to the sides, but those are generic and recommending a specific model would avoid someone buying a weird one with holes in the wrong spot. Something fully integrated would be fantastic, however.

If there is a large touchscreen, it can completely replace the physical keyboard with a virtual keyboard.
