How to connect my Slate-AX?

I have an existing network and wireless router that uses subnet 192.168.1.0. The wireless SSID I use is gaudi

I want to use the Slate-AX such that it connects to the gaudi wifi network and uses DHCP on the existing router to serve IP addresses for any devices that are plugged in to its Ethernet ports.

What mode of the Slate-AX should I use for this? Is it extender mode or something else.

Do I need to configure an IP for the Slate-AX itself or do I leave it set to 192.168.8.1?

A simple "step by step" set on instructions would help a lot as I am totally failing to get it working right now.

Sorry, misread your post.

Extender / repeater mode.

you don't need to assign an IP to slate a. It will just get one from your upstream routers dhcp server.

I personally would set a dhcp reservation for the slate ax in that upstream routers dhcp server. This would allow me to more easily access the slate ax web interface later if I need to change anything.
Or you can static assign the IP in the slate ax to an IP address within the same subnet as that upstream router but outside of its dhcp ip range.

Extender mode was the thing. The tip to assign an DHCP reservation for the Slate-AX was a very good one!

Thanks
